作文二：For a minute Jo stood still with a strange feeling in her heart, then she resolved (

seemed to have no strength in them, and for a second, she could only stand motionless, staring
with a terror-stricken face above the black water. Something rushed swiftly by her; it was Laurie,
who cried out, "Come and help, quick!" For the next few minutes Jo worked as if possessed by
madness. Lying flat, the two held Amy up by the hockey stick and together with all their might,
got the child out, more frightened than hurt.
Shivering, dripping, and crying, Jo got Amy home with Laurie’s help, and after an exciting
time of it, Amy fell asleep, rolled in blankets before a hot fire. "If it hadn’t been for Laurie, it
might have been too late! It is my dreadful temper, my anger blinds me." Jo condemned her
hardness of heart, as she leaned over her sister, softly stroking the wet hair scattering on the pillow.
As if she heard, Amy opened her eye, and held out her arms, with a smile that went straight to Jo’s
heart. Neither said a word, but they hugged one another close, in spite of the blankets, and
everything was forgiven and forgotten in one hearty kiss.
