Students Sprang into Action to Clear Snow

Last Friday, a heavy snowstorm hit our city, posing a potential safety risk for citizens. In

response, our class launched a volunteer activity right away to clear the snow in the street.

At 5:30 after school, our classmates set out to clear the heavy snow in teams. The cold air was

filled with laughter and chatter as we worked together tirelessly, forming a heartwarming scene. Our

efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Passersby never failed to offer words of encouragement and gratitude,

which in turn fueled our motivation, making the task seem less difficult.

It was through our efforts that we not only cleared the paths and ensured everyone’s safety but

also strengthened our unity, reflecting the spirit of responsibility as well.

Brian looked through his backpack for his cellphone. Unfortunately, there was no cellphone

inside. “I left my phone at home so we cannot call anyone for help!” Brian cried out, and looked at

Josie anxiously. Josie turned back, “Calm down, Brian. I remember seeing a telephone at the

entrance to the library, maybe we can reach Mrs Cane on the telephone.” Then, in a hurry, Brian put

the books into his backpack and left the room with Josie. It was dark outside, and the two kids tried

to figure out where they should go. Slowly, they were inching towards the entrance, comforting

each other.

They heard a noise that sounded like a telephone ringing. They felt their way in the darkness

toward the sound, and found a telephone on the wall. Trembling with excitement, Brian answered

the phone, and heard Mrs Cane’s voice on the line: “Sorry, Brian. I forgot you and Josie were in the

library. Now I’m coming to get you guys out.” Hanging up the phone, Brian breathed a sigh of

relief. Just in a second, Mrs Cane arrived. Excited and overjoyed, Mrs Cane rushed forward and

hugged the kids tightly, praising their calmness. It was through this accidental experience that Brian

and Josie learned there is always a way out when a problem arises.
