One possible version:
To help students relax and ease the effects of stress, a long-awaited talent show was held in our
school hall from 9:00 to 11:00 last Saturday morning, which turned out to be a great success.
These talented students deeply impressed the audience by their amazing shows. They performed
traditional Chinese dances, popular songs and some other excellent programs. Students from Class One
even practised Tai Chi on the stage.The audience gave loud cheers to these talented students and praised
their excellent work.

So I went to Mrs. Johnson’s office after class. “Mrs. Johnson, I, uh, I’d like to talk with you about my
writing.” I stammered, my voice barely rising above a whisper. Smiling, she got up from her chair, patted
me on the shoulder and said gently, “OK, what’s your problem?” Her warm smile melted my nervousness.
I poured out all my puzzles about writing, which she explained one by one patiently. She also told me
writing, like any other skill, was something I could get better at with time and practice. She even promised
to tutor me after class on a regular basis.
The after-class instructions continued for months until the Year Writing Contest came. Mrs. Johnson
encouraged me to enter for it, but I hesitated—I wasn’t ready for a contest. Seeing my lack of motivation,
she said only those who dared to fail greatly could achieve greatly. Waking up to her encouragement, I
decided to give it a try. Although I didn’t win any prize, the experience helped me understand Mrs. John’s
remark “writing was an art”. After that, I was really into writing and never stopped it, which I owed to the
guidance of my dear teacher Mrs. Johnson.
