Power of Reading" on this World Reading Day.
There was a time when my study suffered greatly because of my inability to adapt to the new
school life quickly. Feeling at a loss, one day I caught sight of the book The Old Man and the Sea
in the library accidentally. The novel talks about how an old man fought against a large fish with

grabbed it and waved it like a flag. Dad’s face lit up. An hour later, I was in the van with my
family. Dad glanced back at me in the rear-view mirror. “Thanks!” he said. I smiled. As our van
chugged down the freeway, I thought this trip might not be so bad after all. Good-bye, regular old
summer vacation. Hello…Trip of a Lifetime?
