There is many different signs in public. They tell you what to do or what not to do in a place. Do you know
how they exactly mean? For an example, if you go to see a film, you should enter the cinema at the ENTRANCE or
leave through the EXIT. You will also find NO SMOKING signs in much cinemas. If you visited a museum, don’t
take any photos inside the halls, which is allowed. You will find NO PHOTOS signs in a great many museum.
When you drive a car, don’t park in a street without a NO PARKING sign. Making sure you understand the signs
and you won’t get into any trouble.

My hometown, that is in the south of Shandong Province, is an very beautiful village. It lies on the east bank
of a small river, surrounding by green mountains. In the past, my hometown was poor, and people lead a hard life.
They couldn't afford send their children to school. However, great changes have been taken place in my hometown
in the past twenty years. Many families have not only color TV set, but also telephones, fridges or computers. New
roads, houses, schools and hospitals have been built recent. People in my hometown is working hard for a better
life.

My English teacher, Mr Li, nearly fifty years old, comes to our school in 1998. As he has been working very
hardly all these years, he has praised for his excellent work many times. He has many knowledge and is good at
teaching. All of us enjoy his lessons which is lively and interested. He gets on well with us, so he is strict with us.
He often encourages us to do our best as the benefit of our country. With his help, we have made a great progress.
Mr Li is not only our good teacher but also our good friend. He is my favorite teacher and we all love and respect
her.

When I was small, my parents sent me to boarding school. I felt very homesick that I cried all the time. Lonely
and depressing I failed to continue studying there and returned back home. Luckily, when I was in high school, I
get popular among my classmate. Once, our school organized a two-week stay in countryside. Again, I was away
from home, without parents, without yummy food, even without a hot shower. To my happy, everybody was caring
and everything made me feel at home. What great the change was! When the trip was over, my parents told me,
“You've already growing up!” I know I'll be away and go after your dreams, but home will always remain in my
heart.
