状语从句
一、基本概念
状语从句指的是在主从复合句中作状语的从句，修饰主句中的动词、形容词或副词等。
状语从句由从属连词引导。状语从句放在主句之前时，常用逗号分开；若放在主句之后，
一般不用逗号。
二、基本分类
1.时间状语从句：When Susan goes to town, she will visit her grandma.
2.条件状语从句：If he works hard, he will surely succeed.
3.结果状语从句：Waste must be treated so that it does not become a danger to life.
4.目的状语从句：They worked hard in order that they might succeed.
5.原因状语从句：Mary didn't go shopping because I advised her not to.
6.让步状语从句：Though we are all different, we need never be separate.
7.比较状语从句：I was happier than I had ever been in my life.
8.地点状语从句：I will go where I am needed.
9.方式状语从句：I have changed it as you suggest.
三、用法详解
时间状语从句

※until，till 用于肯定句时，表示“直到……为止”，主句必须为持续性动词。
We shall wait until/till he comes back.
Everything went well until/till that accident happened.
※not…until/till 表示“直到……才……”，主句通常要用短暂动词，这时 until 和till
可用 before 代替。
I didn't leave until/till/before she came back.
People do not know the value of their health till/until/before they lose it.
3）多义：
※when “当…时”I was doing my homework when my mother came in.
“正当……时候，这时或那时” when＝and then; at that moment (正在那个时 候)
并列连词。
They were watching the World Cup when suddenly the lights went out.
当when 意思是“正当……时候，这时或那时”，when 只能跟在前一分句之
后。
※while “ 当…时, 在…期间” He visited a lot of places while he was traveling.
“而，然而”，表前后意义上的对比或转折，为并列连词。
I like pop music, while my brother likes classic music 我喜欢流行音乐，而我哥哥
喜欢古典音乐。
※as “在…同时，当…时”
“一边…一边…”，强调从句和主句中两个动作交替进行或同步进行。
They talked as they walked. 他们边走边聊。
“随着”As time goes on, it's getting warmer and warmer. 随着时间的推移，天气变
得越来越暖了。
“由于”，引导原因状语从句。
“正像，正如”引导方式状语从句。
考例：

ago.
“既然，由于”=now that 引导原因状语从句
考例：
1.We have been good friends we joined the same ping-pong team.
A. after B. before C. since D. until
2. It is 50 years _____________the People’s Republic of China was founded.
A. after B. before C. when D. since
keys：C D
※before “在…之前”，与 after 相反“在…之后”。
Before she comes back, he will clean all the room.
After they finish their homework, they will play a game together.
before 从句有时带有否定的含义。“…还没来得及…就…”“趁…”，
或 “没等…就…”等
He rushed out of the room before I could say a word.没等我说一句话他
就跑了出去。
He ran off before I could stop him. 我还没来得及阻止他，他就跑掉了。
Write it down before you forget it.趁你还没忘，把它写下来。
※as soon as “一……就……”He rushed home as soon as he got the good news.
“和…一样快，一样迅速”，比较状语从句结构。
