三、 阅读理解(分二节,共 35 分)
第一节、阅读选择(每题 2分,共 30 分)
A
A young man came across a spring of delicious water while wandering in the desert. The water was very
sweet. He filled his leather canteen (皮革水壶)so he could bring some back to an old man in his village who had
been his teacher.
After a four-day journey, he gave the water to the old man. The old man took a deep drink, smiled warmly and
thanked his student for the sweet water. The young man returned to his home with a happy heart.
Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out (吐出),saying it was awful and sour
because of the old leather canteen . "
The student asked his teacher, "Master, the water was terrible. Why did you pretend to like it?"
The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water, I tasted the gift. When my student gave me the water, it was an
act of love and kindness and nothing could be sweeter. "
I think we understand this lesson best when we receive gifts of love from young children. Whether it's a paper
boat or a drawing, the natural and proper response (回应) by is appreciation (欣赏) and thankfulness because we
appreciate the gift.
Gratitude (感激)doesn't always come naturally. Unfortunately, most children and many adults value only the
thing that is given, rather than the thought behind it .We should remind ourselves and teach our children about the
beauty of expressing gratitude. After all, gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.
26. When the teacher tasted the water, it was ________. Which of the following is not true?
A. sweet B. terrible C. awful D. sour
27. What does the teacher want to tell us?
A. Don't judge a book by its cover.
B. Be thankful for what you have in life.
C. Pretend (假装) to like a present even if you don't like it.
D. Always appreciate people's thought behind the gift.
