Actor James Woods is using Twitter to connect people who have lost touch with their loved
ones in the chaos of Northern California’s Camp Fire near Chico and Southern California’s
Woolsey Fire in Malibu, which together have forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.
Woods made news in September after saying he was locked out of his Twitter account for
posting what the social media company said was a hoax (恶作剧), and required him to delete it
before regaining control of his account. But now, he is using his Twitter fame to reunite family
members in two terrible California wildfires.
Through his Twitter account, the actor is inviting people to use the hash tags ( 话题标签)
Camp Fire James Woods and So Cal Fires James Woods to post the names of missing family
members and friends. He then shares the message to his more than 2 million followers.
Hundreds of concerned users have tweeted in with photos and descriptions of missing people.
Many of the tweets are from people looking for seniors. When someone is found, Woods also
shares the news.
Both the Camp and Woolsey fires broke out on Thursday. The Camp Fire in Butte County is
becoming known for its fast-moving pace, blackening more than 70,000 acres in less than 24
hours. The fire started at 6:30 a.m. and within three hours spread across 5,000 acres. By Friday
morning, it had spread through most of the town of Paradise, burning hundreds of buildings.
The Woolsey fire rapidly climbed into the Santa Monica Mountains and raced toward the coast.
It has spread through 14,000 acres.
