There are some places you have seen hundreds of times on television or in books, and
you know all about the details of the buildings and history. But still, one day, if you
really visit these places, they do something to you. They may not be like what you
thought they would be. The Red Square in Moscow is one of these places.
I got there in the late evening. After arriving at the Rossiya Hotel, I took a walk on the
Red Square. I found the square was in fact not that big, much smaller than I had
expected. Maybe it was because I came from Beijing just a couple of weeks before, and
I was comparing it with the really huge Tian’anmen Square.
One of the following days I visited Lenin’s MausoleumAs soon as you
walk inside the mausoleum, you have to walk down some stairs, where there is no light.
I even didn’t see the Russian security(安保)men standing on the sides, but I knew
quickly enough they were there, because when I said to my friends,It is dark here. I
cannot see...”,they reminded me immediately about the “complete silence” rule
Many Russian cities have a Kremlin, but the one in Moscow is always referred to as
“the Kremlin”. In present times, inside the Kremlin walls, you can find a historic
museum, different traditional churches, Ivan’s clock tower, the current government
buildings and other modem buildings. One rule that our guide made clear quickly was
that it is not allowed to walk anywhere but on the pavement (人行道)!If you get off
the pavement you will be warned by the security officers. Also when you stand too
long in one place, they also tell you to move on.
All in all, this trip is very great! It makes me well understand the life of the Russian.
4. What probably was the author’s first impression of the Red Square?
A .It was much smaller than Tian’ anmen Square

B. The security officers there are very friendly.
C. The president is glad to receive visitors there.
D. It is a combination of Russia’s past and present.
7. Where does the text most probably come from?
A. A travel plan. B.A travel journal. CA book review. D. A news report.

People who drink a lot of sugary drinks have a higher risk of developing cancer, though
the evidence cannot show a direct relationship, researchers said .The findings of a large
study in France do suggest, however that limiting intake (摄取量)of sugar-
sweetened drinks may help to cut the number of cancer cases in a population.
The intake of sugary drinks has risen worldwide in the last few years and is connected
to obesity (肥胖)which itself increases cancer risk. The World Health Organization
suggests that people should limit their daily intake of sugar to less than 10% of their
total energy intake, but also says a further diminution ---below 5%,or about 25grams a
day, would be healthier. Many countries, including Britain, Belgium, France, Hungary
and Mexico, have introduced, or are about to introduce taxes on sugar with the aim of
improving people’ health.
Published in British medical journal, this study analyzed data from 101,257 French
adults, 21% of them men and 79% women, and assess their risk for all types of cancer.
The researchers also considered several other cancer risk factors, including age, sex,
educational level, family history, smoking and physical activity levels.
Experts not directly taking part in the work said it was a well-conducted and powerful
study. “While this study doesn’t offer a final answer about sugar and cancer, it does add
to the overall picture of the importance of the current drive to cut down our sugar
intake,” said Amelia Lake,an expert in public health nutrition at Britain’s Teesside
University. The message from the evidence of excess (过量的)sugar intake and
various health outcomes is clear: reducing the amount of sugar in our diet is very
important.”
8. What result does the study on sugary drinks in France achieve?
A. It finds out the causes of cancer.
B. It proves that sugary drinks lead to cancer.
C. It discovers some suitable sugary drinks for people.
D. It makes clear that people should have less sugary drinks.
9. What does the underlined word “diminution”in Paragraph2 mean?
A. Check B. Increase. C.Reduction. D.Discussion.
10.Why are some countries mentioned in Paragraph 2?
A. To introduce some different eating habits.
B. To explain people’s dislike of sugary drinks.
C. To show they are taking measures to limit sugar intake.
D.To point out that they care more about economic development
11.What is the experts’ attitude towards the research?
A. Unclear. B.Negative. C.Confused. D. Supportive.

Eating healthily is an increasingly popular goal, but lunch is a meal that is.sometimes
difficult to prepare for and is often skipped().Packing lunches for work or school
is sometimes done with less attention than other meals. To form healthy eating habits
and plan healthy lunch ahead of time, you can consider these healthy lunch ideas.
Packing a lunch for work or school depends largely on equipment for kitchen. Workers
can enjoy the convenience of a refrigerator and a microwave at their office, but children
in school can’t. Many kids prefer eating French fries, hamburgers and so on instead of
vegetables and fruits. They also won’t always eat lunch prepared in their school
canteenIt is important for parents to provide foods according to a standard
diet.
For packers who have refrigerators and microwaves, healthy lunch ideas become much
more versatile. Yogurt and cheese are good choices for dairy diet and require no
preparation. Besides,a salad with vegetables prepared ahead of time or cooked chicken
or eggs is another healthy lunch idea. If you prefer hot lunch, try low-calorie food.
Those who are also concerned about calorie intake ( 摄 入量 ) can drink water with
