The City of Toronto currently delivers three public art programs: the Public Art &
Monuments Collection, the Percent for Public Art Program and StreetARToronto (StART). The
programs have had a transformative effect on the city’s vitality, gathering a collection of public art
that is of international significance.
Pubic Art & Monuments collection
The City commissions ( 委 托制 作 ) and accepts donations of high-quality public art works
and monuments that are relevant to their prospective community, and enrich the urban experience
of Toronto’s residents and visitors. These City-owned works of public art and historical
monuments enhance public spaces all over Toronto.
Percent for Public Art Program
The governing principle for the Percent for Public Art Program is that art is a public benefit
to be enjoyed and experienced by residents and visitors through the city. The privately-owned art
is intended to make building and open spares more attractive and interesting and to improve the
quality of the pubic spaces. The Program requires that the artwork must be clearly visible at all
times from publicly accessible areas.
StreetARToronto
StreetARToronto (StART) is a series of programs designed specifically for streets and public
spaces. Launched in 2012 as part of the City’s Graffiti （涂鸦）Management Plan, StART has
been successful in reducing graffiti vandalism and replacing it with colourful, community-engaged
street art.
StART programs encourage active transportation (walking and cycling), make out streets
more beautiful and safer, showcase local artists and more.

A junior at Zionsville Community High School created an app to help fellow classmates
navigate(导航) through extracurricular (课外的) activities at the school.
With over 90 extracurricular groups at ZCHS, Will Schrepferman designed "ZCHS Glubs" to
help guide students.
“I’ve kind of always had an interest, just repairing computers and just messing around with
technical stuff ," said Schrepferman. “I really started coding two years ago and I’ve been getting
into it a little more heavily.”
Schrepferman said he saw an issue and used his talents to find a solution.
"The app has all of the extracurriculars at our school, all of the sports and every club at the
school and it has a list of all the clubs that you can look through and click on to see more
information about each one," said Schrepferman. The app also features a questionnaire where
students can select their interests and answer questions to determine activities they might be
interested to join.
Schrepferman' s app has received special recognition. He entered his app in the ’2017
Congressional (国会的) App Challenge’ and won- representing Indiana' s 5th district.
Rep. Susan Brooks ( IN-5) recognized Schrepferman in person at the high school on
Wednesday. “Will is a bright, thoughtful and engaged student and I look forward to seeing his
work on displays in the halls of Congress and on the US House of Representatives website.” said
Brooks.
“ I know so many of my classmates have encountered this same issue so Ii think it is an issue
we saw and it was a relatively simple solution but still not an easy one.” said Schrepferman.
Schrepferman was awarded $250 in Amazon Web Service credits to go towards hosting his app.

FC Barcelona's football academy, La Masia, trains some of the best footballers in Europe.
Pep Guardiola, Lionel Messi,Cese Fabregas and Gerard Pique are all graduates of La Masia. Many
people believe that Barcelona is the best football team in Europe because of the training
programme at the school. Now, FC Barcelona has opened similar academies all around the world,
including in Egypt, Japan, America and Dubai．
It is difficult to join the Barcelona academy. Every year, over 1,000 students apply, but only 70
students can live and study at the school. They are aged between 11
and 18 ．Seventy coaches ，teachers, doctors, cooks sports doctor and other staff
look after the students. The academy costs about £5 million a year to run.
But the students all have scholarships ，so they don't pay any money.
FC Barcelona pays for everything：the students' rooms，teachers，books and food．
However, the students don't only learn football. FC Barcelona also wants to give their
students a good academic education. It is important to the club that their students
can still get good jobs if they don't become professional footballers. Students travel by bus to
local schools each morning for four hours of study. The footballers return to La Masia
