Animal lovers, get ready for your best birthday yet. Now you can host your birthday party at Animal Humane
Society!
Birthday parties at AHS last 90 minutes. The first 45minutes are led by an AHS staff member and may include
an adoption floor tour, games, and a meet with an adoptable animal. The last 45minutes are yours to celebrate, open
gifts, and eat cupcakes in our education room.
What’s included in an AHS party?
·Space for a maximum (最大量) of 10 children (ages six and up) plus four adults — If your party is for an
adult

the party size is limited to 10 adults altogether.
·Set-up and clean-up of tables and chairs before you arrive — Guests are responsible for all food and gift
clean-up.
·45minutes of AHS staff-led activities, and 45minutes of room rental for cake and gifts if you choose to bring
them — Guests must be out of the space at the end of the 90-minute rental period.
Rules for hosting birthday parties at AHS
·We invite guests to bring cupcakes, drinks, and gifts to celebrate during the last 45 minutes of your party. We
do not allow guests to bring other food or decorations, and we do not have refrigeration.
·Birthday parties take place within the education room, and guests must stay in our party area even during the
last half of the party.
·To make the experience a positive and safe one for everyone, we put the responsibility of choosing an animal
for visitations on AHS staff members alone.
·AHS staff reserve the right to end a party early if guests’ behavior is inappropriate or endangers the well-
being of an animal, and the payment will not be returned in such circumstances.

Thomas Coryat was not one of those famous explorers who found new trade routes or mapped unexplored
territory. But in his time, he was an extremely well-known traveller and writer. His writings about his tours opened
the eyes of many readers to the geography and customs of other countries:
Born in England in 1577, Coryat was educated at Winchester College and Oxford. Not long after he finished
his education, he was employed by Prince Henry as a royal (皇家的) entertainer. This is evidence of his intelligence
and sense of humour, which later became more widely known in his travel writings.
In 1608, Coryat started a long tour of Europe. The book he published in 1611 gave a lively picture of
European life at the time. His book was extremely popular, partly because people were very curious about life in
other countries. They also preferred reading about someone else’s exciting explorations, since travel was difficult
and dangerous at the time.
