Winter Festivals in the World
Here are amazing winter festivals held in some places around the world. Enjoy the magic of winter
celebrations!
International Snow Sculpture (雕塑) Championships-America
This winter festival has been celebrated for many years. Teams of artists from around the world must compete
to carve 25-ton blocks of snow into works of art themselves. There are no power tools allowed! The result is an
outdoor art gallery (画廊) in downtown Breckenridge. The 34th yearly Snow Sculpture Championships run from
January 22 to January 26, and the art gallery is open from January 26 to January 31.
Kiruna Snow Festival-Sweden
The Discoverer explains that this snow festival, which began in 1986, is held in Kiruna, deep inside the Arctic
Circle. The main part of the festival is a snow sculpting competition that includes artists from around the world. But
there are plenty of activities to keep visitors busy during the competition, including sledding( 乘雪橇), figure
skating and a snow blower contest where they work to see who can clear a path through a 40 cm deep pile of snow.
The festival takes place from January 24 to January 28.
