Possible version:
In order to encourage students to take responsibility and help out with household chores,
our school held an activity called “Housework, I can do it” last week.
Students were required to do some housework each day. Some tidied their rooms, while
others swept or vacuumed the floor. At the weekend, some even prepared a delicious dinner for
their parents. Such experiences were so precious that many photos were taken and posted to the
school website.
The event was well received and highly appreciated. All thought it was a great opportunity
to taste the joy of labor. (96)
Currently, a school campaign called “ Housework, I can do it ” is under way, aimed at
equipping us students with basic life skills and developing a sense of responsibility.
Each student is required to help out with household chores and have their work recorded
in the form of photos or video clips. Students are actively involved. Most students start from
their bedrooms: make their beds, clean their tables or vacuum their floor. Some even help with
a healthy breakfast or do the laundry for their family.
Students generally express that they have not only acquired skills but also learned the
spirit of giving through housework. (104)

I pushed the door open and saw a complete mess again! Covering the floor was more of
the same substance that I had just seen in Callie’s hair! It was everywhere—on my bed, on the
floor, and on my bookshelves and desk! Callie had poured cheese all over my room! And the
room was filled with the disgusting smell. “She did it again!” I screamed, my face being red
and hot with rage. No sooner had more angry words burst out than I found Callie at the door.
Cautiously she came to me, hugged my knees tightly and murmured with tears streaming down
like raindrops.
Seeing the tears in her eyes, I bent down and lifted her up gently. She threw her arms
around my neck and whispered in my ear, “Sissy, the cheese is very sweet! I want to share it
with you.” Her words really melted my heart although my neck felt rather sticky. I sighed
deeply. After all, she was only three and experimenting with the world. It was nice to feel so
loved by someone younger than me. She looks up to me, her big sister. I guess that’s why she
always chooses my room to explore and destroy.
