Hour of Writing Competition
To enter this weekly contest from Manchester, you submit a piece of writing of any type you choose, as
long as it is created by yourself, running to no more than 2,000 words. There is a different theme every week.

Writers of the Future Competition
This US contest is open worldwide and is for short stories of up to 17,000 words. They should be science
fiction or fantasy with fantastic elements. Your story will be disqualified once copying is detected.
Closing: Quarterly
Prize: $1,000, $750, $500

The 6th Annual Poetry Competition
This contest organized by The Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund may remind you of a strong alcoholic drink
whisky. Actually, it’s all about raising funds for an animal reserve in Kent, a county in southeast England. Entry
fees will be used to improve animals’ living conditions. Welcome original poems of up to 40 lines on any topic.
Closing: May 31st, 2023
Prize: 1st—$200 2nd—$100 3rd—$75

Canterbury Poet of the Year Competition
It’s back again: the annual international poetry contest from Canterbury Festival. As usual, it is for poems
