During the summer of 1963, JJ Green decides to take her fortune into her own hands.
Encouraged by her parents to find a summer job, preferably at the family lawyer’s firm, she refuses
her parents by going against their wishes. As she follows her dreams, she finds herself in an intern
position in the Brill Building, which she hopes will help her songwriting career. JJ Green does not
listen to her parents about the evils of the music industry until she finds herself part of a murder
mystery. This is the story that unfolds in I’m Glad I Did by Cynthia Weil.
Knowing this book was written by Cynthia Weil made me nervous to read the book, for fear her
native language would be over my head. Fortunately, Cynthia Weil kept the lack of music knowledge
in mind as she wrote her novel as it is easily understood by even those with the least amount of
knowledge. If you do not know, Cynthia Weil is the songwriter behind many famous songs,
including my favorite “On Broadway”.
As her first novel, Cynthia Weil interests her audience quickly. As the reader turns the pages, he
is filled with delight by JJ Green and wishes the best for her to succeed. But each step she takes
comes with a price, which finally breaks down onto her, I think that this book is a great historical
effect on the music industry---the tension between races during the African—American Civil Rights
Movement as rock’ n’ roll comes to birth. I rate the book 4/5 stars and recommend people to look out
for this novel in January 2015. As the novel says, I’m Glad I Did (read the book).

Bobby Buns was a very amusing and lively waiter who had his own cafe. He was also very
fortunate, because during a visit to his parents’ village he discovered that one of the young cows in
the latest herd was pretty special. Instead of producing milk, this cow produced milk coffee.
Intending to make himself rich, Bobby took the cow straight to the city. When he arrived,
Bobby’s wife told him that first he would have to reorganize the cafe so they had a place to put the
cow. Bobby was so excited and impatient that he ignored this advice, and took the cow straight to the
cafe.
The result was quite wonderful. The cow was featured in the newspapers and on TV. Customers
came from far and wide to taste the delicious fresh milk coffee.
However, after this initial buzz of excitement, it turned out that having a cow in the middle of a
cafe was not at all comfortable. Every day the cow broke twenty or thirty cups simply by swishing
its tail. The cafe smelt like a stable. And so the cafe began to lose customers. To top it all, the
authorities came to do an inspection. They imposed such a heavy fine that Bobby Buns almost had to
close the place. And Bobby Buns realized that he had to be more patient and organized. He should
wait until everything was ready before serving his freshly milked milk coffee.
However, Bobby was a lucky sort of person. While the cafe was being reorganized, he took the
cow back to the village. There he discovered that one of the new hens laid chocolate eggs. This time
he knew he had to be patient, and wait until everything was prepared, so he could have a cafe with
milk coffee and chocolate eggs.
When this was all in place, his cafe became the most famous and successful in the whole city.
