Key facts about IELTS Academic and General Training

Test length: 2 hours and 45 minutes long.

The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections take place on the same day with no breaks in

between.

The Speaking section may be scheduled on the same day or up to 7 days before or after the

other sections.

A short video capturing the heartfelt reunion of a daughter and her mother, who works away

from home, has gone viral on social media recently. The video was shared by Li Qiushuang, a

college student. Li covered over 1600 kilometers to deliver a warm and unexpected surprise.

Li’ s parents had migrated to Fujian for work over 20 years ago. Normally, they would return

to Chongqing together just before the Spring Festival. However, due to Li's grandmother falling ill

this year, her father returned home early to look after the elderly, leaving her mother to work alone

at a shoe factory in Jinjiang.

In a recent video call, Li's mother informed her daughter that she wouldn't be able to come

home for the New Year this time. One reason was her desire to earn more money, and the other

was the inconvenience caused by her limited education level for traveling back home. Concerned

about her mother spending the New Year alone in a distant place, Li immediately booked a flight

and decided to pick up her mother.

The reason why Li didn't simply buy a ticket for her mother and let her travel on her own was

that her mother was not accustomed to traveling alone. Having spent the last two decades mostly

within the village where she worked, Li's mother wasn't familiar with public transportation.

On the evening of Jan 20, Li arrived and went directly to her mother's residence. When her

mother saw her daughter suddenly appear, she first looked surprised, and then tears of happiness

flowed down her face.

This touching video has resonated (引起共鸣) with many netizens. Netizens even initiate a

voluntary agreement which pledges to assist each others’ parents facing difficulties while away

from home, emphasizing the importance of mutual support in times of need.
