Dear Peter,

I’m glad my pictures interest you. National Sight Day is an annual holiday falling on June 6th,

whose topic is always around caring for eyesight .

This year, our class organized a series of activities. We first held a theme class meeting,

where we made speeches and discussed effective ways to protect eyes. Then we went to the street

to distribute brochures to pedestrians, expecting to raise people’s awareness of protecting eyes.

With such activities, we realize having good eyesight is very important to everyone and we

should form good habits when using eyes.

“Well, get ready,” he urged. “Here comes another one.” The sun was hot on our backs. My

clothes were already sticking to me, and sweat dripped down our faces. A fly buzzed around my

head. I remembered what Paulie had said and sat perfectly still as the new crab clamped onto the

fish. But as Paulie scooted forward on his belly to lower the net, he knocked a pebble off the dock

and scared that crab away, too. We thought about the big pot waiting and Dad dropping the crabs

into the spicy, boiling water. They would turn a beautiful bright red after a few moments, and we’d

have a crab feast, cracking the shells and pulling out the sweet, white meat. We had to keep trying.

The sun began to set. We couldn’t see into the water anymore. “Remember to get the bucket

with the spare bait,” I reminded him, slumping along with the net dragging behind me. Suddenly,

Paulie grabbed my arm. “Listen,” he whispered. Noises came from the bucket Paulie was carrying.

There, in the bucket, was a mountain of beautiful blue crabs fighting over our extra fish. We raced

to give Dad the crabs. “Whoa!” he said. “You caught a lot!” I looked at Paulie. “Yes!” we mouthed

silently to each other with huge grins.

W: Can’t you knock on the door before you enter my office? (1)

M: Sorry! It’s just because I’m in such a hurry.

Text 2:

W: I just sat down at my computer and realized that my phone was dead. Do you have a

charger I can borrow?

M: Yes, Catherine. I always bring an extra charger to work.

W: I usually do too! But I forgot to bring mine before getting on the train this morning. (2)

M: It’s going to take me forever to finish this maths homework, and I’m really not in the mood

to do my science homework after that!

W: At least you completed your history yesterday. (3) If you do it a little faster, perhaps you’ll

finish the science earlier than you thought.

Text 4:

M: Have you seen Mr. Arnold? I’ve been searching everywhere for him.

W: From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., he has a meeting. He’ll be back in his office after the

meeting.

W: I’m sorry, Jack. I must decline your offer. Your company looks great, but I’d need a
