Text 1 博物馆商店的位置
M: How do you like the new museum shop?
W: I like it, but why is it on the top floor? I didn’t expect it to be there. It’s not marked in the
brochure, so it took me ages to work out where it was.
Text 2 关于粉刷厨房的意见不同
W: I’m going to paint the kitchen this weekend.
M: But I like the way it looks. One of my friends said it has a traditional farmhouse” kind of
look.
W: Come on! Let’s get it changed. I’m thinking of a modern style.
Text 3 周末计划
W: It’s Friday again. I’m glad we finished that report.
M: Let’s enjoy ourselves this weekend. The weather will be fine. Why not play tennis tomorrow?
W: That’s a good idea. And on Sunday we can go for a hike in the countryside.
Text 4 评价音乐会
M: What a concert! It isn’t what I was expecting.
W: And I couldn’t hear the piano clearly.I think one of the microphones might be broken.
Fortunately it was only an hour.
Text 5 筹备聚会
W: So we need to decide on food for the party. Any ideas?
M: OK, but I need to know how many people are coming.
W: I’ve invited 30 people, but I’ve only heard back from 18 of them. I’m not sure about the
others.I think we should wait a few more days before organizing the food.
Text 6 意外摔坏朋友的手表
M: Sara, you look really down. Is everything all right?
W: Hi, Peter. I accidentally dropped Daniel’s watch on the ground and it has stopped. Look!
M: Hmm. Looks like an expensive one. But this model is not rare. You can buy him a new one.
W: You don’t understand. His sister gave it to him when he graduated from college. It means a lot
to him.
M: I see. You know, my aunt lives in Switzerland, and she is a very good watchmaker. If you don’t
mind, I think I can mail it to her. I’m sure she can get it fixed.
W: Will she do that for me? Oh, thank you very much, Peter.

W: Honey, what did you do on the computer just now?
M: I downloaded a really interesting podcast about history.
W: Really? Do you think Jennifer would find it useful for her exams?
M: I’m not sure if it covers the subjects she’s studying, but the presenter is that guy on TV she
loves, so that might interest her.
W: Does it cost anything?
M: You can download the podcast for nothing. There’s a course that you need to pay for. However,
if the topic is different, she might not have interest in it.
W: You’re right.Let’s see what she thinks of the podcast first. She will be back from school soon.
Text 8 更改预订信息
W: Hello, Gino’s.
M: Hi,I called earlier to book a table for four and I was wondering if I can make it for six instead?
W: What name was on it?
M: Jamie.
W: Table for four. At half past seven. So you want to change it to six o’clock?
M: No, sorry. Can I make it for six people?
W: Oh, I see.
M: But I don’t want it to be in the corner or by the door.
W: That shouldn’t be a problem.I can move you to the big table near the kitchen. Is that OK?
M: Sounds great. Is it possible to change the time as well? Make it half an hour later?
W: Ah… yeah, we can.
M: Thank you so much!
W: Lovely. See you tomorrow, then.
M: Thanks! Bye!
Text 9 商量度假计划
W: I’d love to go abroad on holiday next spring. What do you think?
M: I’m not sure. When are you thinking of going? In April?
W: Maybe. We have two days off work for our national holiday. We could take off another three
days and go for a week.
M: Okay. Then where would you like to go?
W: Well, I’ve checked flights. There aren’t any flights to Greece until May, unfortunately. I’d like
to go there. But we can fly to Spain and Italy quite cheaply.
M: Spain would be nice.
W: I think so.
M: Where would we stay? In a hotel?
W: I’m not sure. I don’t really like staying in hotels. We could hire a cottage.
M: Is a cottage cheaper than a hotel?
W: It’s about the same. But I prefer staying in cottages. It’s more peaceful, and we can cook for
ourselves.
M: Okay, well, that’s fine with me.
W: The problem is transport. You can get to the hotels easily from the airport. They are all in the
town center, and buses go there all the time. But the cottages are further away.
M: That’s fine. I don’t mind doing that. We can hire a car.
Text 10 一位玻璃艺术家的自述
M: Hello, my name’s Lukas Royle, and I’m a glass artist. Actually, I make pictures in glass, often
very large ones. I must say that it wasn’t the career my parents had hoped I’d follow. According to
them, a much more suitable thing to do was work as a mechanic. My father was a farmer, and he
thought I should do something conventional, even if I didn’t follow in his footsteps.
I’ve always been artistic. I wouldn’t have gone to art school, though, unless I’d been encouraged
to do so. My older brother and cousin used to tease me a bit when I preferred painting to climbing
trees, but my sister was kinder. She said I was so good at art that I should definitely study it, and
that gave me the confidence to apply.
I was lucky enough to find a job while I was still at art school. There was a furniture shop nearby.
I went in and told them I specialized in making pictures in glass. I offered to produce some lamps
for them. What I made sold well, and the shop owner was delighted, so that turned out to be very
