The next morning, Josh started to prepare his “present from the past” secretly. Picturing the
scene where Granddad and Grandma once spent time together under the stars in his mind, Josh got
down to carrying out his plans in the backyard. To his great delight, he managed to borrow several
paper lanterns, a small TV tray and an old record player from neighbors. Songs to Grandma’s taste
and a vase of wild flowers were also prepared. With everything ready, all he had to do was wait
for the starry night to come.

After finishing dinner that night, Josh invited and led his grandma to the backyard. Eloise
gasped in astonishment at what came into view — paper lanterns glowing against the sky, a small
TV tray holding an old-fashioned record player and a vase of handpicked flowers — and her
thoughts flew back to the past days when her husband was alive. Hearing Josh’s “Happy Birthday,
Grandma!”, she came out of her trance (出神，恍惚) and hugged him. Then Josh held out his
hand and asked gently, “Would you like to dance, Eloise?” With bleary (视力模糊的) eyes, Eloise
replied, “I’d love to, Josh.”
