1. put on phr. 增加(体重),发胖; 穿上; 上演,举办

e.g. Why don’t you put on your black jacket today?

e.g. Too much sugar and not enough exercise will make you put on weight.

e.g. They will put on the play again next week because of its success.

「辨析」put on, wear, dress 与be in 的区别

词条用法

put on 强调“穿；戴”的动作。

wear 强调“穿；戴”的状态，其后可以跟衣服、鞋帽、首饰等。

dress 意为“穿衣”,其后只能跟表示人的名词/代词,不能跟衣服、鞋帽等。

be in 表示“穿；戴”的状态，其后可跟表示衣服或颜色的词汇。

拓展:与put 相关的词组:

e.g. She was looking at me in a very strange way.

e.g. Never accept lifts from strange men.

e.g. At first the place was strange to me.

3. lie v. 存在;平躺;位于 (lay/ lain)

单词词性汉意过去式过去分词现在分词

lie v.

躺，位于 lay lain lying

说谎 lied lied lying

lay v. 放置，下蛋 laid laid laying

lie n. 谎言 tell a lie = tell lies 撒谎

「规则撒谎, 不规则躺; 躺过下蛋, 下蛋不规则.」

注意: 这里的规则与不规则是指动词的过去式和过去分词的变化是否是规则的.

1. lay v. 放置;铺放/ 产卵;下蛋

e.g. She laid the baby down gently on the bed.

e.g. This is the season when fish lay eggs, therefore fishing is forbidden.

2) lay out 铺开;摆放

e.g. It's time for lunch. My mother ask me to help lay out the table.

4. admire v. 欣赏;仰慕

e.g. I admired her when I first met her and I still think she’s marvelous(出色的).

e.g. He stood back to admire his handiwork(手工制品).

e.g. You have to admire the way he handled(处理) this situation.

1) admire sb. for sth. 因...钦佩;仰慕...

e.g. I don’t agree with her, but I admire her for her sticking to her principles.(原则)

e.g. All those who knew him will admire him for his work.

2) admiration n. 钦佩;赞赏;羡慕
