Most people in England live in small family groups. More than twenty-five percent of homes in England have only

one person in them. Some of these are old people, but many people who are between twenty and thirty choose to

live alone. Thirty-five percent of homes have two persons, and seventeen percent have three persons. Fifteen

percent have four persons, and the other homes have five or more. Families in England are small. It is unusual for

parents to have more than two children. When children are about eighteen or nineteen, they leave their parents’

homes, and go to different cities. Sometimes they only visit their parents two or three times a year.
