知识点 1 above 的用法

1. above 作副词，意为“在较高处; 到较高处; 在头顶上

方”。如：

Put the biscuits on the shelf above. 把饼乾放到上面的

架子上。

2. above 作介词，意为“在...之上；(数目﹑价钱﹑重量

等)超过...”。如：

We were flying above the clouds. 我们在云层上面飞行。

It weighs above /over ten tons. 这东西的重量超过十吨。

3. 辨析：above, on 与over

above①表示一物在另一物的侧上方，但不一定在正上

方，其反义词为 below。

The plane is flying above the clouds.飞机正在云上飞

行。

on②指两个物体面上互相接触的情况,表示“在……上

面”。

There are five books on the desk.桌上有五本书。

over③通常指“正对……的上方”,表示两个物体垂直

的相对位置，其反义词为 under。同时 over 还可以表示

“(大范围)笼罩；遍及”之意。

知识点 2 alive 的用法

1. adj. 活着; 没死。如：

She was still alive when I reached the hospital. 当我赶到

医院的时候, 她还活着呢。

2. adj. 活泼; 活动; 有活力。如：

You seem very much alive today. 你今天好像非常活跃。

3. adj. 存在着; 继续不断。如:

Newspaper reports kept interest in the story alive. 报纸

报道的这件事一直很吸引人。

4. 固定搭配：be alive to sth. 对某事物注意到的或敏感

的； be alive with sth. 充满（活的或动的东西）；look

alive 赶快; 快些。如:

He is fully alive to the possible dangers. 他充分注意到

会有危险。

The lake was alive with fish. 湖里满是游来游去的鱼。

Look alive! You'll miss the bus. 快点儿啊! 你要赶不

上公共汽车了。

5. 辨析：alive, living 与live

① alive 主要用作表语（有时可用作后置定语，但不用

作前置定语），可用于人或动物。如：

He must be still alive. 他一定还活着。

注：若 alive 本身有修饰语，则也可用作前置定语。如：

He is a really alive student. 他的确是一个十分活跃的

学生。

② living 可用作表语或定语，可用于人或物。如：

Are your grandparents still living？你的祖父母还健在

吗？

alive 和 living 表示“活着的”，两者含义很接近，

只要句法适合，有时可互换。如：

谁是当代最伟大的诗人？

正：Who is the greatest living poet？

正：Who is the greatest poet alive？

若需严格区分，两者仍有差别：living 通常是客观

描述某人“尚在人间”或“健在”，而 alive 则主要指

生与死的“界限”。如：

He was still alive when I reached the hospital. 当我赶

到医院时他还活着。

③ live 通常只用作定语（前置），可用于动物或植物，

但一般不用于人。如：

He bought some live fish. 他买了几条活鱼。

Only a few live trees were left after the fire. 火灾之后

只剩下几棵树还活着。
