知识点 1 would rather 的用法

1. would rather 意为“宁愿”，表示主语进行的选择，

后接动词原形，构成 would rather do sth.结构，其否定

形式为 would rather not do sth.。如：

I would rather live in the countryside because there is

too much traffic in the city. 我宁愿住在农村因为城里交

通拥堵。

I would rather not tell you. 我宁愿不告诉你。

2. 固定搭配 would rather do sth. than do sth. 意为“宁愿

做某事而不愿做某事”，相当于 prefer to do sth. rather

than do sth.。如：

I’d rather read than watch the boring TV. =I prefer to read

rather than watch the boring TV. 我宁愿看书也不愿看无

聊的电视。

3. 固定搭配 would do sth. rather than do sth.此时 rather

than 有时可以与 instead of 互换, 但instead of 后面常接

名词或动名词即doing 的形式。如：

I think you should call him up rather than send an email.

=I think you should call him up instead of sending an e-

mail. 我认为你应该给他打电话,而不是发邮件。

知识点 2 nor 的用法

1. nor 作连词

[①用作否定语，尤指在 neither 之后] 也不，也不是。

如：

She won't wait for you, nor for me. 她既不会等你，也

不会等我。

[②用以强调前面的否定或继续否定] 也不。如：

I never saw her again, nor I regret it. 此后我再也没见

到过她，对此我一点儿也不后悔。

[③用于肯定句后]又不，又没有 (=and not)。如：

He could do it, nor need I worry. 他能做好，这用不着

我操心。

[④古语、诗歌用语][与之连用的 neither 省略] 亦无，

亦非。如：

You nor I was present. 君与吾均未出席。

2. nor 作副词 [英国英语] 也不，也没有。如：

Neither he nor I have free time. 他没有闲功夫，我也没

有闲功夫。
