第十四讲 定语从句
【语法聚焦】
一、定语从句的含义
在复合句中，修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。被修饰的名词或代词，叫先行词。从句放在所
修饰词(即先行词)之后，由关系代词 that,which,who(宾格 whom,所有格 whose)和关系副词 where,when,why
等引导。
I like music that I can dance to.
(先行词) (that 是关系代词，that 引导的从句为定语从句)
Carmen likes musicians who play different kinds of music.
(先行词) (who 是关系代词，who 后面的从句为定语从句)
二、关系代词
关系代词 用法 在从句中的作用
that 指人或物
作主语或宾语,表语。
which 指物(可与 that 互换)
作主语或宾语,表语。
who 指人(可与 that 互换)
作主语,宾语,表语。
whom 指人
作宾语。
w hose 指人或物 是who 的所有格,作后面名词的定语。
E.g. The woman who lives next door is a doctor.
I’d like to see the film (that/which) you saw last night.
Is there anyone here whose name is Jerry?
注意问题
1、关系代词在句中作主语时，谓 语动词 单复数应与先行词的单复数一致。
Tom is one of the boys that are from the USA.
Tom is the only boy that is from the USA.[来源:学,科,网]
2、关系代词只用 that 不用 which 的有：
① 先行词是不定代词 all, everything, nothing, anything, much, little, few 等时。
Finally, the thief handed in everything that he had stolen
② 先行词被 all, every, any, no, little, much 等修饰时。
③ 先行词被序数词及形容词最高级修饰时。[来 m]
This is the most beautiful mountain that I have seen.
④ 先行词被 the only,the very,the last,the same 修饰时。
This is the only book that I like.
⑤ 先行词中既有人又有物时。
I can remember the people and some pictures that I saw in the room.
3、当介词放在关系代词前时,用which 而不用 that。
Is this the village in which you spent your childhood? 这就是你在那里度过童年时代的那个村庄吗?
