Part two
引导定语从句的主要关系代词     
1.  that 的用法      
that 是所有关系代词中最常用的，它既可指人也可指物，既可用作主语也可用作宾语。
如：      This is the photo (that) I took.    <take photos（that） 拍照> 
引导定语从句的关系代词 that 在此指物(the photo)，且在定语从句中用作宾语。
They live in a house that was built 200 years ago. 
引导定语从句的关系代词 that 在此指物(a house)，且在定语从句中用作主语。
The man (that) I saw told me to come here.      
引导定语从句的关系代词 that 在此指人(the man)，且在定语从句中用作宾语。
2. Which 的用法
用于指物，在句中作主语或宾语
如：  The building which stands near the train station is a supermarket. 
引导定语从句的关系代词 which 在此指事，且在定语从句中用作主语。
  The film (which) we saw last night was wonderful. 
引导定语从句的关系代词 which 在此指事，且在定语从句中用作宾语。
which 引导的非限制性定语从句只能放在主句之后。
例：
He has been to Paris more than several times, which I don’t believe.
3.  who / whom 的用法      
关系代词 who 和whom 均只能指人，不能指物；
从理论上说，who 是主格，在定语从句中用作主语；

whom 是宾格，在定语从句中用作宾语。
但在实际运用中，除非是直接用作介词后作宾语，否则凡是用宾格 whom 的地方都可
以用 who.
如：      I met someone who said he knew you.       
引导定语从句的关系代词 who 在此指人，且在定语从句中用作主语。
She is the girl (who, whom) you saw in school. 
关系代词在定语从句中用作宾语，从理论上说应用 whom，但也可以用 who 
     
注意: 如果关系代词是直接用作介词后作宾语，不可以用 who 来代替 whom。
如：The girl to whom I spoke is my cousin.      
句中的 whom 直接用在介词 to 的后面作宾语    
4.  whose 的用法      
不要以为关系代词 whose 只用于指人，其实它也可以用于指事物；
whose 在定语从句中主要用作定语。
如：      He is the man whose car was stolen.       
It was an island whose name I have forgotten.      
第一句中的关系代词 whose 指人，第二句中的关系代词 whose 指物。
Whose,如果指物，可以与 of which 互换，为什么呢？
of 是“的”的意思, which 是指物，“哪一个，哪一些”
----“哪一个的；哪一些的”
如： Please pass me the book whose cover is green.
=please pass me the book of which cover is green.
=The cover of which is green.
Whose 引导的定语从句既可以是限定性定语从句，也可以是非限定性定语从句。Do 
you know Peter whose father happens to be working in your compa
-ny? 
The tourist wanted to book a room whose window faces south. 
=The tourist wanted to book a room the window of which faces south. 
=The tourist wanted to book a room . The room’s window faces south.
We went to see our teacher Miss Styles, whose husband lost his life in
 the earthquake. 
Xi’an, whose walls remain as good as before, is one of the few cities
 with city walls.
◎注意到有些关系代词没有用（），有的用（）了吗？
能看出什么来吗？
----做主语时，关系代词都不能省略；
----做宾语时，关系代词都可以省略。
◎除了 whose 以外，which,who,whom 都可以用 that 来代替，能说出原因吗？
