【知识点 1】offer 是动词，意为“提议；提出”。其主要用法如下：
①offer sth. 意为“提供某物；提出某事”。如：
They will offer drinks during the meeting. 会议期间他们将提供饮料。
His father offered a good plan for our holiday. 他的父亲给我们的假期提出了一个好计划。
②offer sb. sth.=offer sth. to sb. 意为“给某人提供某物”。offer 后跟双宾语。如：
He offered me a glass of water.=He offered a glass of water to me. 他给了我一杯水。
The old man offered me a nice room.= The old man offered a nice room to me. 这位老人给我提供了一个不错的房间。
③offer to do sth. 意为“主动提出做某事”。如：
She offered to buy a colour TV. 她主动提出要买一台彩电。
He offered to help me with my French. 他主动提出帮我学法语。
Jack offered to help me with my maths. 杰克主动提出帮我学数学。

【知识点 2】at the same time 意为“同时”，在这个短语中，same 前必须加定冠词 the。如：
We got to the airport at the same time. 我们同时到达飞机场。
This novel can make you laugh and cry at the same time. 这本小说让你笑的同时，还会让你哭。
【拓展】the same as 与……一样；all the same 仍然。如：
He’s angry because my marks are the same as his. 他很生气，因为我与他的分数一样。

【知识点 3】last for … 意为“持续多长时间”。如：

【知识点 4】at the end of …意为“在……的结尾，在……的末端/后期”。既可指时间，也可指位置/地点。如：

【知识点 5】depend on/upon 意为“依赖/靠；取决于；决定于”。depend 是动词，意为“视……而定；决定于”。
如：
All must depend on oneself! 一切都要靠自己啊！
Your choice depends on your interest. 你的选择取决于你的兴趣。
The salary depends on personal experience. 薪水取决于个人经验。
Your grades depend on how hard you study. 你的成绩取决于你如何努力学习。
Children shouldn’t always depend on their parents. 孩子们不应该总是依赖父母。
【拓展】that/it depends 视情况而定；那要看情况。如：
---- Is he coming?他会来吗？ ---- That/It depends. He may not have the time. 那要看情况了。他可能
没空。

【知识点 6】provide 是及物动词，意为“提供，供给，供应，装备”，后可接名词或代词作宾语。常用短语：
provide sth. for sb.=provide sb. with sth. 意为“为某人提供某物”；provide for sb. 意为“抚养/赡养/供养某人”。如：
Robin has to provide for four children. 罗宾要抚养四个孩子。
Books provide us with knowledge.=Books provide knowledge for us. 书本给我们提供知识。
The hotel provides meals for guests.=The hotel provides guests with meals. 宾馆向客人提供膳食。
His mother often provides money for him.=His mother often provides him with money. 他的妈妈经常提供给他一些钱。
【知识点 7】progress 是不可数名词，意为“进步；进展”，其前可用 great，good，much，some 等词修饰。与
make 构成短语：make progress 意为“取得进步”；make progress in/with (doing) sth. 意为“在某方面取得进步”。如：
Jane made much progress in maths. 简在数学方面取得了很大进步。
The boy has made great progress in/with his English this year. 这个男孩今年在英语方面进步很大。
You will make great progress if you study hard. 如果你努力学习就会取得很大的进步。
★(A2).【知识点再现】As well as learning English, we want you to experience life in the US. 除了学
习英语以外，我们还想让你们体验美国的生活。
【知识点 8】as well as 是并列连词，意为“除……之外；也；还；既……，又……；不但……，而
且……”，可连接名词、动名词、形容词、动词、介词等两个并列的成分，强调的是前者。如：
He grows flowers as well as vegetables. 他既种花也种菜。
I want three bags of milk as well as some bread. 除了一些面包我还想要三袋牛奶。
We all want to visit Beijing as well as Shanghai. 我们除了想去北京以外，还想去上海。
She is a talented musician as well as being a photographer. 她不仅是摄影师还是个天才的音乐家。
