1. Mrs Wang, Miss Tang, Susan and David live in the same block of flats as Ben and Kitty.

★ the same…as…意为“与……一样”，same 后通常接名词。如：

They are the same age as you and Ben, twelve and fourteen. 他们与你和本同龄，分别是十二

2. She works for a construction company. 她为一家建筑公司工作。

★ work for 意为“为……效力；为……工作”

I work for the government. 我在政府机关工作。

3. He moves people’s furniture to their new flats. 他将人们的家具搬到他们的新家去。

★ move sth. to some place 意为“将（某物）搬到（某地）”。如：

Would you please help move the tea table to the sitting room? 你能不能帮我把茶几帮到客厅

去？

4. Who wears a uniform at work? 谁在上班的时候穿制服？

★ at work 意为“上班”。此时 work 前不能加定冠词 the。

5. Are you going to work? 你要去上班吗？

★ go to work 意为“去上班”。与 go to school 一样，不能加冠词 the。

6. Sam ran away because he was afraid. 萨姆因为害怕而跑了。

★ be afraid 在本例中为“害怕”的意思。如：

That dog is barking. The girl is afraid. 那狗在吠，女孩害怕了。

7. Next, the policeman stopped the traffic to let the fire engine come quickly to the scene.

接着，警察阻断了交通，为了让消防车快速抵达现场。

★ stop the traffic 意为“阻断交通”。

★ let sb./sth. do sth. 表示“让某人/某物做某事”的意思。let 后带动词不定式时，不需要

to。如：

She lets her children play in the garden. 她让孩子们在花园里玩。

8. Ben had a broken arm and the motorcyclist had a broken leg. 本的一条胳膊骨折了，而摩托

车手的一条腿骨折了。

★ have a broken arm 意为“手臂骨折”; have a broken leg 为“大腿骨折”的意思。

9. Every morning, Tom sees a lot of people on his way to school. 每天早晨，汤姆在上学路上会

看到很多人。

★ on one’s way to some place 是“在某人去某地的路上”的意思。如：
