三．重点解析

1. The Changing World

changing 是现在分词，做 world 的定语，“正在改变的世界”

falling leaves 正在落下的叶子

increasing population 正在增加的人口

smiling face 笑脸

2. You have just come back from your hometown.

come back = be back = return 回来

3. Great changes have taken place there and my hometown has become more and more beautiful.

take place 发生 (必然性地、有计划地、有安排地)

happen to 发生在……身上 (偶然性地)

拓展：happen 是不及物动词，不能接宾语，因此表示某人发生某事的正确表达是：

sth. happen to sb. “某人发生某事”

而sb. happen to do sth.表示“某人碰巧做了某事”

4. But there were so many people that I couldn’t find a good place to take photos.

so... that...句型中的 so 是副词，常常用来修饰形容词或副词，意思是“如此/这么……以致于……”

常用句型为：主语+谓语+so+adj. / adv. + that 从句。

so+形容词+a(n)+单数名词+that 从句。

so+many / much / few / little（少）+名词+that 从句。

拓展：在 such... that...句型中，such 修饰名词，意思也是“如此……以致于……”。

such+a(n)+形容词+单数名词+that 从句。

such+形容词+复数名词/不可数名词+that 从句。

improve 提高，(使)好转，改进，改善

improve oneself 自我提高

improve on/upon 对…做出改进

improvement 改进(处)，增进 n.

7. There goes the bell.

观察主语和谓语主语是名词：Here comes the bus.

主语是代词：Here you are.

【注意】通常情况下，在以 here, now, there, then, in, out 等副词开头的句子里，当谓语动词是 be, come, go,

follow 等词，

① 主语是名词时，构成完全倒装，需要把谓语动词置于主语之前。

② 若主语是代词时，用部分倒装句，即把主语放在谓语动词之前。
