1 except, except for 与besides

[辨析] except 表示“除……之外”(即“……不包括在内”)，其后能跟句子；

besides 意为“除……之外，还有……”(即“……包括在内”)。

活学活用

根据汉语意思完成句子

2 such 与so

[点拨] such 与so 均有“这样，如此”之意，但 such 是形容词，修饰名词(可数或不可数); so 是副词，修

饰形容词和副词。当名词前有 many, much, few, little (表示“少”而不表示“小”之义)修饰时，要用 so 修饰而不

用such。

活学活用

3 dress n. 女装 v. 穿衣

[点拨] dress sb/oneself　给……穿衣

dress in＋衣服/颜色　穿着……衣服

[辨析] be in＋衣服/颜色，wear 和dress in 都表示“穿着……”，强调状态；而 put on 表示“穿上”，强调

动作。

名词变成复数形式即可；但 woman 或man 修饰其他名词时，除最后一个名词要变成复数形式外，woman

和man 也要变成相应的复数形式。

[点拨] (1)either…or…意为“要么……要么……”。

You can either take it home or leave it here.你要么把它拿回家，要么把它留在这儿。

(2)当either…or…连接两个主语时，谓语动词遵循“就近原则”(即以 or 后面的主语为准)。

Either you or she is right.不是你对，就是她对。

[拓展] either 还可以表示“也”，用于否定句中，放在句末，前面用逗号隔开。

7. David spoke so quickly that I couldn't catch his words.大卫讲得太快了我都听不懂。

[点拨] (1)句型结构为“so＋形容词/副词＋that＋从句”意为“如此……以至于……”。

(2)“so…that＋否定句”可以用“too…to…”来替换。

The rain is so heavy that we can't see anything clearly.＝The rain is too heavy for us to see anything clearly.雨
