Unit 8 When is your birthday?

一、重点词汇

1. when adv.什么时候,何时

when 是疑问副词,可以对年、月、日以及时刻进行提问或者询问某一动作发生

的时间，回答时常用介词 at,in,on 等组成的表时间的介词短语。

When do we start? 我们什么时侯开始？

拓展：what time 也可就时间进行提问，但 what time 更强调“几点”,多指钟表

时刻。

What date 提问的是日期，多用来提问今天的日期； What day 提问的是星期几

—What time is it now? —it’s ten. 现在几点了。十点

3. month n. 月,月份

There are twelve months in a year. 一年有十二个月。

注意：1)它的复数形式为 months，而不是 monthes.

2)搭配：this month 这个月；next month 下个月

十二月份： January 一月 February 二月 March 三月 April 四月

May 五月 June 六月 July 七月 August 八月 September 九月

October 十月 November 十一月 December 十二月

拓展：“在几月份”, 用介词 in 如：in March 在三月份 in September 在九月

份

词汇记忆：ten （十）+ th(第…)→ tenth (第十)

拓展：一到三十的序数词：

first second third fourth fifth sixth seventh eighth ninth tenth

eleventh twelfth thirteenth fourteenth fifteenth sixteenth seventeenth eighteenth

nineteenth twentieth thirtieth

基数词变序数词口诀：

一、二、三，单独记；八去 t，九除 e， ve 要用 f替，整十基数变序数，先把 ty

变成 tie；要是遇到两位数，十位基数个位序，th 最后加上去。

解析口诀：one→first， two→second， three→third 这三个词变化特殊，要单

独记；eight→eighth， nine→ninth，八去 t，九去 e后再加-th； five→fifth，

twelve→twelfth，五、十二把 ve 换成 f再加-th；twenty→twentieth，

thirty→thirtieth... 整十先把词尾 y改为 ie 再加-th。两位数时则十位数用基数词，

个位数用序数词，如：twenty-first。

注意：1)序数词的前面一般要带定冠词 the,但序数词前面如果已经有物主代词

my, your, his, her 等，则不能再用定冠词 the。

He is the first child in my family. 他是家里第一个男孩。

He is my first son. 他是我第一个儿子。

2) 序数词也可以用阿拉伯数字加上该序数词的最后两个字母来表示。

如： first→1st; second→2nd; third→3rd; fourth→4th; fifth→5th; sixth→6th; thirty

second→32nd 等。
