1）否定疑问句：助动词 / 情态动词 /be
与
not
的缩写形式 + 主语 + 谓语 + 其他？ ，通常译为“难道....不/没有...吗？”
所表达的意义通常有：
① 表示惊讶或提出反问
Isn't he a winner?
Didn't you make up the story?
② 表示试探性的建议或有礼貌的请求?
Can’t you ask your parents for help?
③ 表示责备、批评、抱怨
Can’t you be more careful?
Why are you late again? Haven’t I told you?
④ 表示征询对方对某人或某物的看法
Don’t you think is a pleasant trip?
※注意：否定疑问句的考点在于回答，做题技巧为把否定词去掉后看句子句意，然后根据实际情况进行回答，如果与
事实相符，就有 yes 回答；与事实不符，用 no 回答。
例句：---Can't you see the boy in blue?
---Yes, I can. /No, I can't.
2）get bored with 厌烦/倦…
例如：After a while, I began to get bored with the job.
2. If you’re as busy as I am.
as + adj./adv.原级+as… 和...一样....
not as/so....as.... ....不如....
The cowboy is as tall as his father.
I run as fast as he.
3. I need a little sleep.
sleep n. ：睡眠
v. ：睡觉
sleepy adj. 困倦的
asleep adj. 睡着的
典型例句：I am sleepy, so I want to sleep. Maybe I will be asleep in ten minutes, but I find it is hard to fall asleep. The dog
next to me is sleeping quietly on the floor.
4. A dog’s work is never done.
done adj. 完毕，结束 常用短语....be done

1. I like watching documentaries because I can learn a lot about nature, history and real-life events from them.
real-life adj. “真实生活的；现实的”
His stories are most about real-life things.
He is a full-time composer.
2. There are always famous people on these shows talking about their lives.
There be + sb./sth. doing sth. 是固定结构，意为“有某人/某物在做某事”，该结构中的主语 sb./sth.是后面动作的执行
者，因此用现在分词形式。
There is a dog eating a bone.
Reading
1. A weekly round-up of what happened in sport, with up-to-date information.
1）weekly adj. “每一周的”
a weekly magazine a weekly visit They are doing the weekly cleaning.
※注意：①weekly 做副词，意为“每周地；每周”。
He goes to the country to see his father weekly.
2）round-up n. “综述，（尤指新闻）摘要，概要” a round-up of “……的摘要”
If you don't know the whole story, here's a round-up of what's been going on.
3）happen v. 发生
The story happened in Shanghai.
A fire happened in his factory last night.
※常用短语:
(1) sth. happen to sb./sth. 某人/某物发生某事
If anything happens to the machine, do let me know.
※区别：happen & take place
同：两者都表示“发生”，二者都没有被动语态
异：take place（尤指经过计划或安排后）发生，举行；
In 1919, the May 4th Movement took place in China.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday.
Falls happen to everyone sometimes.
4）up-to-date adj. “最新的，现代的”
You need an up-to-date Web browser.
2. The programme covers different sports, such as swimming, basketball and football.
cover 含义较多：
cover vt. ① 报道；电视报道
He is covering the big earthquake happened in Japan.
vt. ② 覆盖；掩盖 常用短语：cover...with...意为“用……覆盖……”；be covered with 意为“被……覆盖”。
She covered the sleeping boy with a coat.
All the world is covered with snow.

v. ③ 涉及, 包括
Is that word covered in the dictionary?
cover ④n. 封面，盖子，罩
The cover of the book is attractive.
When the water boils, take the cover(=lid) from the pan.
2）such as 意为“例如”
※注意：such as 与for example
都是列举同类事物中的部分人或物
(1)such as，罗列几个例子，位于句中，用逗号与前句隔开
(2)for example，只举一个例子，位置比较灵活，可在句中，也可以在句末，如在句中不但前面有逗号，后面也用逗号
与后句隔开，相当于一个插入语。
3. If you are a football fan, you will not want to miss this week’s prgramme.
fan n. “迷; 狂热爱好者；狂热仰慕者”。
He must be a ping-pong fan.
※扩展：fan，名词，意为“风扇”。
He cools himself in front of an electric fan.
4. There are a number of interviews with famous players.
a number of = a lot of 一些；许多的；若干的。
例如：A large number of students are playing football on the playground.
短语 a number of 相当于 many，后面跟可数名词的复数形式
※ the number of “……的数目”，后面接可数名词复数。作主语时，谓语动词用第三人称单数。
例如：The number of the women teachers in our school is 68.
例如：This coming Sunday is her birthday.
典例：用 a number of 或the number of 填空。
1. There are a number of people flying kites in the park at the moment.
2. The number of the people in this city is more than fifty million.
3. A number of natural disasters happen all over the world every year.
interview 可数名词，意为“采访，面试”。 短语 have an interview with sb. 采访某人”
The reporter had an interview with the famous singer.
My brother was very happy because he had a chance to interview the director.
5. A report on the coming World Cup will also be included.
coming adj. 接下来的
We will have a Maths test in the coming week.
6. This year's Beijing Music Awards will be covered live this Saturday.
