During the summer holiday, my family and I visited Singapore. We first took a 2-hour flight
to Guangzhou. Then it took us another 4 hours to fly to Singapore. We stayed there for six days
and visited many famous tourist spots. Out of all of them, the one I liked most was Universal
Studios.
For people who love movies, Universal Studios is an ideal place to visit. Divided into
different parts based on movie themes, Universal Studios is like an amusement park for movie
fans. We looked through the website ( 网 站 ) before visiting. People who want to enjoy the
excitement of going on rides should go counter-clockwise ( 时 针方 向) around the park. I
don’t care for rides like that, so I decided to go clockwise.
The first part we visited had a boat ride that was based on the movie Madagascar (2005). We
sat in a small boat and watched a revised version (改编版) of the movie. When I was sitting in the
boat, I looked around and saw the main characters from the movie waving at me. It reminded me
of my childhood--the good old days when I was too little to care about anything.
There are many other things to do at Universal Studios, such as watching a 4D movie, seeing
an acrobatics () show, or eating Malaysian food. This trip was one of the best adventures of
my teenage years.

With her eyes always feeling tired, 16-year-old Sun
Run went to the hospital with her parents in January. She
was shocked when she found out that her eyesight dropped
from 5.0 to 4.6 in only 5 months. “A few of my friends
have had the same experience lately,” Sun said.
In fact, poor eyesight among Chinese primary and middle school students rose from 59.2
percent to 70.6 percent in the first six months of 2020, according to the Ministry of Education (
育部).
To protect students’ eyesight, the Chinese government has worked out new requirements(
) for schools. For example, according to the requirements, the size of text in students’ textbooks
should be no smaller than nine-point (小五号).
Teachers should also avoid using projectors () or other multimedia equipment (
体设备) that are too bright, Beijing Daily reported.
There are also requirements for desk and classroom lights. For example, these lights should
give off as little blue light as possible.
Blue light is bad for our eyes, as it can kill the photoreceptor cells ( 感 光 细 胞 ) we need,
according to Harvard Medical School. Many of the electronic devices ( ) we use every
day, including our phones and computer screens, give off blue light.
Chinese government has also taken other steps to protect students’ eyesight in China. In May
