第十四章 状语从句精讲与精练
一、状语从句讲前练：在空格处填入适当的连词
My classmate Michael studied very hard [1]______ he went to senior school.Every day he
worked [2]________ every one else left the classroom.He said he wouldn't stop trying [3]______
he got satisfying scores in his studies.Hard [4]_______ he tried，he made little progress，but he
didn't lose heart at all [5]______ he believed as long as he persisted he would succeed one day.

university in Guangzhou at last.We had a gettogether party [7]_______we started our new life in

注意：2、3、4、5中的 be 动词只能用 was 或were
When 的后面必须用过去式
4.be doing…when…正在做…这时突然
5.had just done …when 刚做完…这时突然
6.whenever
在…任何时间
每当…时候
无论什么时候
We shall go there whenever we are free.
我们什么时间有空，我们就去那里。
7.while 当…时候,在…期间
尽管，虽然
Mommy, you don't need to stay while we talk.
妈妈,我们谈话时你不必陪着.
While I like the book very much,I won’t buy it.
尽管我非常喜欢这本书，但是我不会买它。
注意：while 引导的动作必须是持续性的
8.as 一边…一边 He hurried home, looking behind as he went.
他赶快回家，不时地一边走一边向后看。
9.before
在…之前 Be a pupil before you become a teacher.
先做学生，再做先生。
还未…就…
不到…就…
….才…
还没来得急…就
We had walked for 100 miles before we found a village.我
们走了 100 英里才发现一个村庄。
He had run away before I could stop him.我还来不及拦下
他，他就跑了。
10.It （will） be 时间
段before…
多久之后才/就…It will be 60 days before we graduate from high school.
11.It won’t be long
before 不久以后就…It won’t be long before we meet again 不久以后我们又会
见面。
12.after 在…之后 He arrived after the game started.比赛开始后，他到了。
13.till 直到…为止 We waited till (until)he came back . 我 们一 直 等 到他 回
来。
14.until 直到…为止 Until he had passed out of sight, she stood there.
她站在那里看着，直到看不见他的身影。
15.not…until… 直到…才…
She didn’t stop working until eleven o’clock .
她到 11 点钟才停止工作。
= Not until eleven o’clock did she stop working
注意：not until 放在句首，主句要用部分倒装句
16.It is/was not until…
that+主句 直到…才…It was not until eleven o’clock that she stopped working
注意：此句式是 not…until 的强调句型
17.since 自从…以来
Great changes have taken place in China since 1978.
自从 1978 年以来中国发生了巨大的变化。
注意：It is/has been+时间段+since+主语+did
It was +时间段+since+主语+had done
18.as soon as 一…就As soon as I arrive in Shanghai, I’ll write to you.
我一到上海就给你写信。
19.hardly/scarcely....
when...
no sooner….than...

I had hardly got home when it began to rain.
我刚一到家，就下雨了。
=Hardly had I got home when it began to rain.
No sooner had we got to the station than the train left.
我们刚到车站，火车就走了。
The moment I heard the song, I felt cheerful.
我一听到这首歌，就感到很愉快。
注意：hardly…when 和no sooner…than 的意义相当于
as soon as, 主 句 为 过 去完 成 时 ， 从 句 为 过去 时 ， 如
hardly 或no sooner 位于句首时主句的谓语要用部分倒
装。
20.by the time 到…时候为止
He had left by the time we reached home.
当我们到家的时候他已经走了。
注意：含有 by the time 的主句常用完成时态。

22.wherever 无论…地方 Wherever you go, you must obey the law.无论你去哪都要
遵守法律。

25．as 由于，因为

由于他英语懂得不多，他在字典中查阅这个单词。
26.now that 既然 Now (that) the weather has cleared up, we can start our
journey.鉴于天气已经晴朗，我们可以启程了。

28.in order that 为了

注意：so that 前有逗号为结果状语从句
30.so…that 如此…以致于He was so excited that he couldn’t say a word.
他十分激动，以致一句话都说不出来。
31.such…that 如此…以致于
He gave such important reasons that he was excused.
他说出了这么重要的理由，得到大家的谅解。
It is such an interesting novel that all of us want to read it.
这是一本十分有趣的书，大家都想看。
=It is so interesting a novel that all of us want to read it.
