Title 7B Unit 5 Welcome to the unit &Comic strip
Teaching objectives:
1. Knowledge objectives:ABC
(1) To master the important words, phrases and sentences about amazing things.
(2) To understand the concept of things that are unusual.
2. Ability objectives:AB
(1) To learn to talk about something amazing with some new sentence patterns.
(2) To use adjectives to describe feelings and opinions
3. Value objectives:(AB
To develop students’ right attitude to lifeOne is never too old to learn.
Teaching key points and difficult points:ABC
1. Phrases: come on, be full of, the same size, in the back of the elephants’ feet, What about…?
2. Structures:
(1) Fish sleep with their eyes open.
(2) The Sun is about 1,300,000 times larger than the Earth.
(3) Our nose and ears never stop growing.
(4) Isn’t that amazing?

Step1: Free talk(AB)
Imagine an unusual experience when going back home one day,
something followed the teacher all the way, but the teacher didn’t know
what it is. Ask the students if they know what it is.
Present the word UFO (Unfined Flying Object)
自由谈话引起学生的好奇心,
激活学生的思维,营造轻松的
学习氛围。问题的答案不唯
一,言之有理即可。从而减少

Step2: Comic Strip (ABC)
1) Tell the students that Eddie also saw sth in the sky. He talked
about it with Hobo. Listen and answer:
Did Eddie see a UFO?
Is it a real UFO? Why does Eddie think so?
2) Practise the dialogue in pairs and try to act it out

Step3: Presentation(ABC)
1) Show the students some amazing things in the world, and talk
about them;
2) Present the fun facts in the book with the help of the
pictureslet the students say something amazing they know if
possible.

跃课堂气氛,利用“信息沟”让

学习兴趣。在此环节,可以鼓励

Step4: Practice: (AB)
1) Have a competition to go over the fun facts in the book;
2) Play a guessing game to present the students more fun
facts in the world;
3) Let the students read the dialogue in Part B as a model,
practice similar dialogues.

励他们多多使用今天所学的词
组、句型、语言点,既为语言知

Step5: Conclusion(AB)
T: There are a lot of amazing things and fun facts in the world. When we go
outside, we can find many unknown things. As the old saying goes “One is
never old to learn.”

1. Make up a dialogue with your partner about an amazing thing;(AB)
2. Go over the main phrases and sentences.(ABC)

(1) To use reading skills to guess the meanings of the new words, to get the general idea and
details.
(2) To retell the passage..

(1) To let the students know there are no ghosts in the world.
(2) To like the small animals around us.

1. Phrases: on Sunday morning, on one’s way home, say to oneself, sound like a whisper, take the
cat to the animal center

Step1: Warming-up(AB)
Make up a story called “Jimmy’s story”, try to prensent some
main new words and phrases to the students.

Step2: Fast-reading(ABC)
1) Ask the students to skim the passage freely, and find out

2) Scan the passage, divide the passage into three parts,
match the main meanign of each part.

Step3: Careful reading(ABC)
1) Tell the students to read the passage by themselves, after reading
the passage, do some T or F questions;
2) Read the passage with tape, and answer more questions and
exercises about the passage.

判性思维。同时,让学生“活
动”起来以保持学生的学习积极

Step4: Post reading(AB)
1) Finish Ex B4 on Page 60;
2) Try to retell the passage with the help of the pictures

Step5: Discussion(AB)
T: So far, we’ve learned about the strange thing happened to Amy and
Millie. And at last, they found the ghost is actually a cat. So I want to
know ‘Is there a real ghost in the world? Let’s have a discussion in
groups

T: We should believe there are no ghosts in the world. And we should
believe in science. And also we should love and protect animals.
