W: Hi Danny, could you have a look at my computer after dinner? My email isn’t working — I’m
not receiving messages.
M: No problem.

W: The bright colors you’ve used for those roses are fantastic!
M: Thanks, Mum! I spent hours planning the way I wanted them to look, so I’m glad you’ve
noticed that. But don’t you think the painting’s a bit too large?

M: You look happy. Did you get that great job?
W: Not sure yet. But while I was coming back from the interview, I met a woman. I said I was
looking for a flat in the area. And she knew somewhere. I went to see it. It’s perfect, and I’m
moving in next week!

M: How was your Chinese lesson?
W: Well, it was hard work learning a new language for a full hour — about half that time would be
better. But the teacher gave us lots of enjoyable exercises that stopped everyone from getting
bored!

W: Hello, how can I help you? I haven’t seen you since you fell off your bike last year. Is your
arm OK now?
M: It’s fine, thanks. It didn’t hurt for long.
W: Good.
M: The thing is I’m going on a climbing trip, but I need to get fitter. How should I prepare for it?
W: OK. Can you tell me more about your trip?

M: So, everything’s ready?
W: That’s right. Here are all my things — my dresses, shoes and scarves. Oh, and I have some
nice coats today, too.
M: What are those books?
W: Oh, a friend has a bookstore. He wants to sell some of these old books.
M: OK. What’s the time?
W: 8:45. Do you have your things?
M: Yeah, here they are — some fantastic mobile phones today, and these two laptops.
W: Oh, they’re good. Listen, do you want to have a coffee before we start?
M: Good idea.

M: Hi Amelia! How was your day?
W: Hi Jamie. It was fine, thanks, although my school bus was late. It usually leaves at 7:45, but
today it came at 8:00.
M: So what time did you get to school?
W: At 8:30 — but my class started at 8:15.
M: That’s not good!
W: I know! And my timetable’s changed. Last year, my first class was math, but this morning it
was physics, followed by biology. That’ll be every week now.
M: Your football shoes were in the kitchen this morning. Did you forget them?
W: I didn’t need them. But I left my lunch in the fridge. I forgot to put it in my schoolbag, so I
went to the café instead.

W: I can’t wait for Mom and Dad to come back from America! I hope they buy me those trainers I
wanted.
M: They’ll probably get me a T-shirt as usual instead of the sunglasses I asked for.
W: Probably. What time are they arriving? They were leaving at 10 this morning.
M: Well, they should be here about 7. The journey takes about 8 hours. Our neighbors couldn’t go
to collect them so Grandpa is going. I hope he’ll be OK. He always gets lost. Grandma is
going to wait here with us.
W: Good — she can help us clean the house!
M: Good idea. I’ll do the bathroom and you do the bedrooms. And we’ll ask if she can tidy the
living room. That’s easy. We can do the kitchen together.
W: That’s not a problem. We only have to fill the fridge with food. I washed the dishes and you
cleaned the floor last night.
M: Great.

Let me tell you about this year’s school camp. The camp starts on 9th June. The cost for the
camp is £25 per student, and there is an extra cost for horse riding. That’s £12, and don’t forget to
bring £10 for the bus. Now, what things will you need for the trip? Each of you will need a tent,
which the school will provide, but don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag. You can bring your phones
with you, but remember there is no electricity at the campsite! You’ll have the opportunity to try a
lot of different activities. On Saturday morning, everyone will go hiking, and in the afternoon, you
can choose between boating and swimming. On Sunday, there will be rock climbing — that’s for
everyone — and on Monday, there will be horse riding and mountain biking. On Monday evening,
we’ll have a special party to celebrate our last night. We’ll drive back on Tuesday afternoon, and
we’ll be back at school for classes as usual on Wednesday!
