there are no schools. But with 5G, this will change. Students all over the world will be able to see places like the

Great Wall without leaving their rooms.

It will be also easier for doctors to treat patients remotely by 5G. It means caring for patients from far away.

The facts listed above are only a part of what 5G will make possible and popular. Just as in the early days of

the Internet in the 1990s, few could see how it could change our life and the world. The same will surely be true of

5G. With 5G, many things do not seem like dreams any more. Now let’s get ready to say goodbye to 4G and

5G will bring us much faster internet speeds, wider coverage and more stable connections (稳定的连接).

Chinese tech company Huawei has more patents (专利) for 5G than any other company in the world. Here are

some of the major things 5G can do.

High-tech Education Smart campuses (校园) are being built all over the world. With 5G, you can have

5G Roads

All of the forms of transport will be improved with 5G. 5G roads can tell electric car drivers where the

Medical care

With 5G, doctors at the hospital can get the information from patients and have a video call to diagnose them.

When people are ill, they may not need to go to the hospital. They can just see a doctor at home. Also 5G can

make health care available to older people who live in the countryside.

Virtual reality (VR)

With the power of 5G, VR gamers will be able to see, hear, and feel virtual environments without

experiencing any lag (滞后). You will be able to play VR games anywhere in real time with a headset. In 5G smart

factories, workers can use 5G headsets to solve problems.

Smart home

Smart technology can turn any home into a nicer place to live: For example, a smart rubbish bin can keep

track of the things you’ve thrown away and place an online order for new items. Smart fridges can create dinner

recipes (菜谱) based on the vegetables that are being kept inside. Smart home can lower how much electricity you

use overall too.

When visitors to the Palace Museum feel a need to sit down for a cup of tea or find a bathroom without a

long line, they soon will be able to turn to their smart phones for the information they need.

This modern solution comes thanks to an agreement signed on Friday by the museum and Huawei Co., the

telecommunication giant, to build a “smart network” using 5G technology. Under the agreement, 5G Wi-Fi signals

will cover the Palace Museum, China’s royal palace from 1420 to 1911.

“It’s important to always stay close to the latest technology to better serve the public,” said Shan Jixiang,

former director of the Palace Museum. Shan said there is still much room for improvement in the handling of a

huge number of cultural relics,such as when the priceless painting “Along the River During the Qingming

Festival” is exhibited again in the future. When it was last exhibited in 2015, visitors stood in long lines until 3 am

to have a look. The museum ended up preparing fast food to serve the hungry visitors. “I don’t want that scenario

to happen again,” Shan said. “Our operation can be done in a more scientific way.

The new system will also make use of the closed-cameras that are set up all over the Palace Museum to

safeguard the museum’s precious relics. More than 1.86 million of them are housed at the museum, which

recorded nearly 20 million visits from the public last year. “How can we make sure no single visitor who might

have evil ideas threatens these treasures?” Shan said. “After adopting the internet of things, we can instantly detect

any motion involving the relics to prevent such threats.”
