I really appreciate the activity “Pre-class 3-minute English Speech” you’ve been conducting
since last semester, which boosts our speaking skills and confidence. However, I’ve noticed some
problems needing to be solved.
With the speech featuring voluntary participation, the students crazy about English are
always seizing the opportunity to present themselves, leaving shy students no chance. Besides,
some speakers’ drafts are unpolished, causing many vocabulary or grammar errors in speaking.
So I suggest making some adjustments. First, students can take turns giving presentations to
guarantee everyone an equal chance to express themselves. Moreover, you can require students
to review each other’s speeches in groups, which will not only greatly reduce the error rate but
also improve their writing skills.
I’d appreciate it if my advice could be considered.
