略
II.Grammar and Vocabulary(20 分)
Section A
Directions: After reading the passages below, fill in the blanks to make the passages coherent and grammatically
correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other
blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.
Water on the Moon
NASA has confirmed the presence of water on the moon’s sunlit surface, a breakthrough ____1____ (suggest)
the chemical compound that is vital to life on Earth could be distributed across more parts of the lunar surface than
the ice that ____2____ (find) previously in dark and cold areas.
“We don’t know yet if we can use it as a resource,” NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said, but he added
that learning more about the water is still crucial.
The discovery comes from the space agency’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA —
a ____3____ (modify) Boeing 747 that ____4____ take telescope high into Earth’s atmosphere, ____5____
researchers may peer at objects in space with hardly any visual disturbance from water vapor. To detect the
molecules, SOFIA also used a special camera to distinguish between water’s specific wavelength of 6.1 microns
and that of its close chemical relative hydroxyl, or OH.
The data confirm _____6_____ experts have suspected, that water might exist on the moon’s sunny surface,
though the form of it shall be _____7_____ (obvious) to detect. Experts will now try to figure out exactly how the
water came to form and why it persists.
“Data from this location reveal water in concentration of 100 to 412 parts per million trapped _____8_____ a
cubic meter of soil.” NASA said in a release about the discovery.
“_____9_____ without a thick atmosphere, water on the sunlit lunar surface should just be lost to space,” said
Casey Honniball, the lead author of a study about the discovery. “Somehow we’re actually seeing it.”
There are several possible explanations for the water’s presence, including an interesting yet
reasonable______10______ claiming its origin to the stony micro objects from space. Small balls of glass from that
process could trap water, according to the researchers’ paper.

that there is one word more than you need.
A. species B. labelled C. expanding D. informed E. underestimate F. sustainable

Eating Jellyfish Could Come to the Rescue
According to the IUCN Red List 32,000 species are threatened with extinction—everything from birds and
mammals. Despite national and international efforts being gathered to protect
___11___ species, we actively fish for many of them. For those seafood lovers, the news is sad, but the researchers
have come up with an unusual way we can help—and it ___12___ eating jellyfish.
Between 2006 and 2014,92 vulnerable or threatened ___13___ were being caught, recorded, and sold. When
they are sold, it is ___14___ that fish and invertebrate (无脊椎的) species are required to be ___15___ according to
species, so consumers have no way of knowing what they’re eating.
It is stressed that only a/an ___16___ view of the real problem is shown. “A lot of the ‘seafood records’ are
listed in groups like ‘marine fish’. Here we didn’t look at those vague records, we only looked at records where the
actual species was listed — so we’ve made a huge ___17___ of the actual catch.
There are some ways to untie the mess we’re creating in the world’s oceans, including ___18___ our idea of
seafood to include jellyfish. That might sound a little off the theme, but it’s not the first time scientists have
suggested it as a food source.
There are other ways to help keep the lovely marine lives off the menu. “We need to improve the labelling of
seafood so that consumers can have all the information to make a/an ___19___ choice,” conservation scientist
Carissa Klein told Science Alert.
And these choices, at least in some places, are easier than you might imagine. In Australia, where the
researchers are based, there’s even official guides providing the ____20____ future both on your table and at sea.
III.Reading Comprehension(45 分)

Aesthetic thought (美学思想, 审美理念) of a distinctively modern art emerged during the 18th century. The
western philosophers and critics of this time devoted much attention to such matters as natural beauty, the purity,
and representation—a trend ___21___ the central position they had given to the philosophy of nature.___22___
that time, however, the philosophy of art has become ever more famous and has begun to ___23___ the philosophy
of nature. Various issues ___24___ to the philosophy of art have had a ___25___ impact on the or 20th-century
aesthetics. Among these are problems relating to the theory of form of art and to the distinction between
representation and expression. Still another far-reaching question has to do with the value of art. Two ___26___
theoretical positions have taken on this issue: one holds that art and its appreciation are a ___27___ to some
recognized moral good,___28___ the other maintains that art is in itself valuable and an end. Underlying this whole
issue is the concept of taste, one of the basic concerns of aesthetics. In recent years there has also been an
increasing preoccupation with art as the prime object of critical judgement. Corresponding to the trend in
contemporary aesthetic thought,___29___ have followed either of two approaches. In one criticism is ___30___ to
the analysis and interpretation of the work of art.___31___, it is devoted to the response to the aesthetic object and
to justifying a particular way of perceiving it.
Over the years, aesthetics has developed into a ___32___ field of knowledge and inquiry. The ___33___ of
