Every year, huntlrtds of thousancls o[ native animals are injured, orphaneti or become
sick, often becausc of interaction with people or pets.
Our wildlife sheltrrs in Australia are unsupported. Privately owned in Australia, our
wildlifc shelters have rescuctl sick, injured and orphaned native Australian wildlife for many
ycars and loved them back to he-alth to bc rcturned to the natural environment.
Since we rcccive no rccurrent (I5lHl'ftflJ ) funding from governments, thc shelters rcly on
the contribution of volunte,,rs and donations {rom the public to keep it running.
The Ixrcation
Shelter I' l-ocated in zr small rural cornmunity in thc cast part of the Riverina on a
working farm, 'l'he Riverina is an agricultural region of south-western Ncw South Wales,
Australia, just ncar the Viclorian bordtr. The Rivcrina is distinguishcd from olhcr Australian
rcgions by the cornbination o[ Ilat plains' warm to hot climatc and an ample supply of water
for irrigation. This is a farm sryle homestay, living and working hands on with the project
hosls on a daily l-,asis.
Shelter 2: I.ocatttl on a bcautiful nrountain top near the coaslal city of (iladstone,
Queensland. Marine activitics are the lifehlood o[ the city sitting at the central part of the
Great Barricr Reef. 'l'his pr<.rject has separate luily cquipped volunteer quarters set in thc
natural landscapc. Apart from arrimals in carc, there are often wild kangaroos, I-rirds and
other animals secn on the propcrty.
Our Volunteem
Volunteers play a key role in wildlife rescue and care. Not only will you bc lcarning new
skills and htlping aninrals in neecl, you will also nrakc new friends from around thc world and
will crcate an enriching exptrience {or yourself.
