一、阅读理解
Natural. High quality. Unique.
That's Almased.
Selected ingredients (原料), an exceptional mix and production process: that's how we create the
unique Almased effect.
Combination of ingredients that's more effective than individual nutrients (营养物质).
No artificial flavourings, fillers or sweeteners.
Supports fat-burning during digestion.
Supports resistance to common diseases.
Many products promise what only Almased can deliver. In order to achieve the unique
Almased effect, it takes more than just mixing soy, yogurt and honey. The recipe for our Almased
powder is as simple as it is unique: high-quality and natural soy, honey and yogurt.
SOYThe high-quality non-GMO soy (非转基因大豆) used in Almased is an
environmentally friendly, sustainable source of plant protein. A single serving of Almased
supplies 27 grams of protein.
HONEYUnlike most regular honey, which is heat-treated, the raw honey in Almased is
bursting with freshness even after it is canned. The honey's natural ingredients are still living and
active when you open the can.
YOGURTCows that are naturally fed can even in turn encourage grass growth. This is
why Almased sources its milk and yogurt from happy cows in Ireland and northern Germany,
where they live in green grasslands.
Being a natural product, Almased has a very plain taste and can be prepared in many
different ways. Whether you like it sweet or fruity, there are no limits to how you flavour it. This
ensures Almased doesn't get boring and suits your personal taste perfectly. So quick and easy to
prepare, Almased can be fitted into your daily routine with ease.

It was a rainy, damp December day. I was headed to the store to pick up another week’s worth of food. I had
put off shopping for Christmas presents until later in the month but wasn’t looking forward to the crowd of
Christmas shoppers while I grabbed my groceries. I kept the CD player on while I drove to avoid the radio news. It
only spoke of the world’s huge problems and how divided we all still were. And it usually just left me feeling
helpless.
Still, I gave my son a dollar to put in the bell-ringers pot at the door to the store. We went in and soon filled
our cart with food. Then we walked towards the self-checkout machines. I hated using them. I much preferred to
chat with the friendly cashiers, but the line at them was five deep and I just didn’t have the time. As I pulled my cart
up, I heard an old man at the machine next to mine grumbling (嘟囔) under his breath, trying his hardest not to
curse(诅咒). He only had a few items but every time he put his wrinkled, well-worn, twenty-dollar bill into the
machine, the money was returned. I quickly grabbed a newer twenty out of my purse and gave it to him. He
thanked me with a warm smile and paid for his goods. I told him to keep his money but he insisted that I take his
old, torn twenty. I nodded, put it in my coat pocket, and wished him a Merry Christmas.
After checking out, I remembered something Mother Teresa had once said about how we all can change the
world. “Help one person at a time,” she said, “and always start with the person nearest you.” I reached into my
pocket, smiled, and went outside. Then I dropped that torn twenty into the bell-ringers pot and walked to my car
with my son happily.
4. Why did the author feel helpless?
A. Radio provided unreliable news.
B. There was always a Christmas rush.
C. People were disconnected from each other.
D. Christmas was ruined by the terrible weather.
5. How did the author help the old man?
A. By paying for his shopping items.
B. By exchanging a newer note with him.
C. By teaching him how to use the machine.
D. By calling out the friendly cashier in time.
6. Why did the author give twenty dollars to the bell-ringer?
A. She wanted to pursue Mother Teresa’s ideas.
B. She desired to spread Mother Teresa’s words.
C. She expected to set a good example to her son.
D. She hoped to have a meaningful day with her son.
7. What’s the best title for the text?
A. A Better World B. The Person Nearest You
C. The Christmas Spirit D. A Twenty-Dollar Bill
A flight attendant’s kindness towards a passenger with Parkinson’s disease is appreciated on the internet after a
woman shared his story on social media.
Sharon Radcliffe was on a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to Nashville last week when the flight attendant,
Jeffrey Jones, discovered that an older woman in coach class struggled with the neurodegenerative disease. To
Radcliffe’s surprise, Jones immediately took the senior by the hand and brought her to an empty seat in first class.
“For the ENTIRE flight, I could see him checking in on her, patting her back, helping her get up, walking her
(holding hands) up and down the aisle and generally ‘mother hen-ing’ her,” Radcliffe wrote on Facebook.
When Radcliffe asked if he needed any help caring for the woman
,
Jones simply said: “I got this.” “He
told me his grandmother had Parkinson’s and that he was all good, but that he very much appreciated my offer for
