Brandon’s mind was racing when he saw the situation. Thoughts of his family flashed

through his mind as he realized if he did the rescue, he would put his life at risk. Brandon took

a deep breath and stepped back. Suddenly a sense of guilt washed over him at the sight of the

trapped man. Brandon knew he had to act. He reached through the window, ignoring the pain

from the burn on the hands. He tried to untie the seatbelt and helped the panicked young man

break away from the steering wheel. Thankfully, the train conductor and some crew members

were now rushing over to assist. Together, they managed to pull the young man out through

the broken window and to safety. What a great relief to everyone at the crash site!

The train conductor came to Brandon and hugged him tightly. The conductor put his

arms around Brandon, leading him away from the chaos. “You just saved more than one life.

Your action is a great example of the value of bravery. You’re a true hero. What you did

brought warmth to our hearts and tears to our eyes.” All of a sudden, thunderous applause

burst out from the crowds. Brandon looked at the conductor, a mixture of emotions sweeping

across his face. In his eyes, he just did what a responsible citizen should do. He was not a

hero, and all he could think about was getting home to his family. He had news to share, and

now, he had a story to tell about how an ordinary man had done something extraordinary.
