The Cultural and Natural Heritage Day
In order to promote the protection of cultural and natural heritage, our school organized a
cultural-and-natural-heritage-day campaign last Saturday.
On that morning, after the opening ceremony, Professor Li from a local university gave a lecture
on cultural and natural heritage, followed by a video introducing the present situation of heritage
protection. The afternoon saw a showcase of various relics from ancient times till now.
All the students and teachers benefited a lot. Not only did we get to know more about cultural
and natural heritage, but we also better cultivated the awareness of heritage preservation. It is hoped
that more of such activities will take place in the future. (109)

One possible version
Meanwhile, our screams were heard by two hunters who were not far away from us. They rushed
over to where we were. On seeing what was happening and the crocodile, which was still floating in
the water behind me, one of them fired a shot in the air to frighten the crocodile away. It had the
desired effect. The crocodile stopped in his tracks, moved back a few steps from the edge of the pond,
and disappeared hurriedly into the water. Then, I passed out.
When I regained consciousness, I found myself in a totally unfamiliar environment. The smell of
antiseptic(抗菌剂) told me that I was in the hospital. I later learned from my mother that I was rushed

to the casualty ward(急诊室) immediately by the two hunters. I was treated for opening wounds on
my right ankle and a long deep cut which required fifty-six stitches(缝线). Mum reminded me of how
fortunate I was to have had the two hunters nearby and have escaped from the jaws of the crocodile.
What a narrow escape it really was!
