Sara and Vivian had different attitude to studies. Sara took studies seriously white Vivian never considered
studies important.
It was Monday morning and the start of their term assessments ( ) As usual. Sara got up early, freshened
up and after breakfast, she left for school,
Sara was confident about her preparations as she had studied the whole weekend, but a bit nervous like
everyone during the exam time,
On the other hand, Vivian wasn't prepared for her exams and was careless as ever. She had spent the whole
weekend with her family at the beach. She really had fun and so she was excited to tell this to her friends.
That day also, Vivian got up late and therefore did everything in a hurry. She rushed to the school to get a
seat beside Sara or any other good student in the class so that she could ask them to show her the answer sheet.
Luckily, she found an empty chair beside Sara in the examination room.
She gave a smile to Sara and asked in a low voice if she could show her the answer sheet, To her surprise,
Sara refused at once. Vivian was very surprised because she hadn't expected that.
When the exam started, Vivian tried to peak (偷看) at sara's paper while Sara kept hiding her answers. But it
was impossible for Sara to keep hiding answers while still writing. Thus forgetting her peeping friend, she
completed her paper and left the alas room.
Vivian copied almost nil the answers from Sara and was expecting good graded. Sara didn't like vivian's
attitude and was angry with her. She didn't speak to her after that.

【答案】One possible version:
Vivian was surprised. She thought about how this could happen when she had copied from Sara's answer
sheet. Then she went to Sara and apologized for what she had done. Next day she asked Sara if she could check
her test paper and tell her what she had done wrong that got her such poor marks. It was a geography paper.
Sara looked at Vivian's test paper and found that Vivian had written everything wrong.Instead of “water
pollution reduces the supply of freshwater” she had written “Water cleaning reduces the supply of dirty water”;
similarly, other answers were wrong too. As Vivian didn't study before, she had no idea about the meaning of what
she was copying from Sara's paper as she couldn't see all the answers. Sara felt bad for Vivian so she hoped her
friend would end this careless attitude and instead take her studies seriously. Vivian was ashamed of cheating and
losing her best friend, so she promised never to cheat again and study hard from that day on.

成一篇完整的短文。
As a sixth grader, I began noticing how other kids were separating into different groups in the class. There
were the geeks, the jocks () , and the popular cool kids. I wasn’t sure where I belonged. And I think that was
a problem.
Our teacher had assigned “secret friends” for the coming week. The purpose of this assignment was to do
nice things for your friend without letting them know who was doing it. We could leave encouraging notes on
their desk or mysteriously leave a card in their backpack or book. Our teacher wrote each kid’s name on a piece of
paper and threw them into a bucket, then we each closed our eyes and drew the name of the classmate who we
were to secretly befriend and support over the next five school days.
Everyone was excited to get involved, including Rochelle. By the middle of the week, we had turned this
assignment into a contest to see whose secret friend could leave the best gift. Instead of encouraging notes, we left
stationary sets on our friend’s desk. Instead of giving compliments, we were giving bubble gum, lollipops and
even money. It seemed that everyone was getting cool presents from their friends. Everyone except me, that is.
My secret friend followed our teachers directions without a fault. I received handmade cards, notes with nice
thoughts and countless smiley face pictures saying that I was one of the nicest girls in the class. This friend
seemed to think highly of me from the notes that were left, but the lack of gifts kept me wondering what was up
with whoever had pulled my name.
On the last morning of our assignment, I walked into my classroom and noticed a package on my desk. At
last, my secret friend had grasped the idea that a gift was what I really needed. I quickly ripped open the gift
paper, only to find a small doll inside. The pink wool-knit doll seemed not new but delicate. But the girls sitting
near me giggled and gossiped about the “little girl” gift I had received.
