Donuts(甜甜圈) are tasty snacks, Donuts are one of favourite foods for children in the

world. Most of children like them. They are made from fired dough(面团). They are made up

of a sweet, fried mixture of flour, sugar, cream and eggs. The most popular type is the ring-

shaped donut with a hole in the middle. It looks very interesting. Do you know why there is a

hole?

It is because of the way donuts are cooked .When dough is placed in a fryer( 油炸锅)，

the outsides will cook quickly, because they’re exposed to the hot oil. But the insides are hard

cook, so the dough needs to stay in the oil for a longer time. This will make the outsides

become burnt.

In 1847, a man named Hanson Gregory invented the donuts hole. He punched a hole in

outsides. So a perfect donut is made from then on.
