Zhuhai is an energetic city in the southeast part of the Pearl River in Guangdong, China,
40 years ago, when China began opening to the world, it became one of the first four
SEZS(经济特区) in the country. Now it is already a prosperous(繁荣的) city with a
population of over 1,700,000.The government works hard to keep a balance(平衡) between
the natural and man-made environment, while the city is rapidly developing. So people can
live and work in this very green happily, with fresh air, clean water large public parks as well
as modern shopping centers. Compared to the busy life in many other big cities, many people
prefer the pleasant life in Zhuhai.The weather is fine all year round in Zhuhai. There are
plenty of things to do and places to visit. For example, you can go cycling and enjoy the
beautiful view along the Lovers’ Road near the city centre. On clear days, you can take a
ferryboat trip to visit the small islands several miles away. If you come in November, you can
see different kinds of airplanes in Airshow China. Of course, the most attractive place is the
Ocean Kingdom in Hengqin. You can spend a good time with your family there. But
remember to prepare some warm clothes because it can be quite cold in some parts.
On the morning of October 24th, 2022, the longest cross-sea bridge in the world, the
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge(港珠澳大桥) opened to public traffic. It is sure that the
great bridge will help with the development of the two SARS(特别行政区) and the cities in
West Guangdong, including Zhuhai. So what will Zhuhai be like in the near future? Let’s Just
wait and see!

Many animal lovers would like to do more to help animals, but aren’t sure where to start
or feel like they just don’t have the time. The good news is that there are many simple things
you can do to help protect animals.
Think twice before you decide
Try eating a vegetarian (素食的) diet. If you aren’t ready to make this change, there are
still things you can do. You can’t buy animal products from companies known to use practices
that go against the law such as using drugs (毒品) to increase milk production (生产) in
cows.
Help get the word out
Getting the word out about the problems faced by animals can be as easy as putting up a
notice on your car. Also, talk to your friends and family members about important things that
are related to animals. Give some simple advice to a friend with a new pet about the serious
pet over-population (人口) problem we’re facing. Turn to some books if you are not so clear
about the advice you give to your friend.
Write a letter
If a company has practices or rules that are harmful to animals, write them a letter to let
them know you are angry about them, and that you won’t buy their products until they make
some changes. Write letters to state and local legislators (立法者) to let them know how
important it is that they support legislation that protects animals.
Be more loving
If you’re thinking about adding a dog or a cat to your family, think about getting one
from a homeless-animal house. You’d better not buy a pet. There are many wonderful animals
just waiting for a home. By taking back an animal from there, you will be helping in the fight
against pet over-population, as well as giving your money to those who are responsible for
taking care of animals.
Take action to protect them by yourself
It may sound simple, but one of the best ways to help animals is to let your actions speak
to the world. You should do the following things first by yourself. Treat all living creatures
(生物) with respect (尊重). Care about your pets and look after them well. Never go to
entertainment (娱乐) places that use animals to perform (表演). Support laws that protect
animals. All of these things set an example for others to follow.
