Unit 10 I’d like some noodles.

Point 1 fish 鱼；鱼肉
（1)fish 作可数名词时，意为“鱼”，表示数量时单复数同形；表示种类时其复数要加心。
I have three fish at home.
我家里有三条鱼。
There are different kinds of fishes in the sea.
大海里有各种各样的鱼。
（2）fish 作不可数名词时，意为“鱼肉”。
I like eating fish.
我喜欢吃鱼肉。
（3）fish 作动词时，意为“钓鱼”。
My father loves to fish.
我父亲喜欢钓鱼。
Point 2 I don’t like onions, green tea or porridge. 我不喜欢洋葱、绿茶和粥。
or 此处作并列连词，意为“或者，和”，常用于否定句中，肯定句中用 and。
I don’t like chicken or beef.
我不喜欢鸡肉和牛肉。
I like onions, green tea and porridge.
我喜欢洋葱、绿茶和粥。

①or 用在选择疑问句中，意为“或；还是”。
—Is your younger brother tall or short?
你弟弟个子高还是矮?
—He is tall.
他个子高。
②or 用于否定词后，意为“也不”。
He never smokes or drinks.
他从不抽烟，也不喝酒。
③or 用于“祈使句+or+简单句”句型中，意为“否则”。
Hurry up, or you’ll be late for class.
快点儿，否则你将上课迟到。
Point 3 Birthday Food Around the World 世界各地的生日食品
around the world 意为“世界各地”，相当于 all over the world，此处为介词短语，作后置定语。
We have friends around the world.
我们的朋友遍布全世界。
【注意】
world 为独一无二的事物，其前通常需要加定冠词 the 或者物主代词。
Point 4 The answer would be diferentin dierent countries. 不同的国家将会有不同的答案。
（1）answer 此处作可数名词，意为“答案，回答，答复”，后面常接介词 to，表示“……的答案”。[来源:学科网 ZXXK]

①answer 可作及物动词，意为“回答，答复，应答”。
The boy can’t answer this question.
那个男孩回答不出这个问题。

②answer 还可作不及物动词，意为“回答”。
He answered with a smile.
他微笑作答。
（2）different 形容词，意为“不同的”。本句中第一个 different 在句中作表语，第二个 different 在句中作
定语。常用短语 be different from 意为“与……不同”，相当于 not the same as...。
My pen is diferent from yours.(=My pen is not the same as yours.)
我的钢笔与你的钢笔不同。
different（adj. 不同的）+-ly→differently (adv. 不同地）
different (adj. 不同的）去 t+ce→difference（n. 不同点，区别）
【拓展】
1. different 的反义词是 same，same 的常用短语：the same as...“和……一样”。
My eating habits are the same as yours.
我的饮食习惯和你的一样。
2. different 的名词形式为 difference，意为“差异”，可用作可数名词。
There are some differences between them.
他们之间有一些不同。

用括号内所给单词的适当形 式填空。
His two daughters are very ______________(difference)from each other.
Point 5 The number of candles is the person’s age. 蜡烛的数量是过生日的人的年龄。
（1）the number of 意为“……的数量”，后跟复数名词或代词，作主语时谓语动词用单数。
The number of the students in the room is 50.
房间里学生的数量是 50。

a number of 意为“许多……”，后跟复数名词。作主语时谓语动词用复数。
A number of students are playing basketball.
许多学生在打篮球。
There are a large numberof teachers in our city.
在我们城市有很多教师。

（2）age 名词，意为“年龄”，常用短语：at the age of“在……岁时”。
I can speak English at the age of four.
我在 4岁时就能说英语。

在询同年龄时，常用 How old are you?或What’s your age?
Point 6 The birthday person must make a wish and blow out the candles. 寿星必须许个愿望并吹灭蜡烛。
（1）make a wish 意为“许愿”。
It’s easy to make a wish,but it is difficult to make it come true.
