Point 1 reading a newspaper 看报纸
newspaper 是可数名词，意为＂报纸＂，它是由 news 和paper 构成的复合名词。
He is reading a newspaper.
他在看报纸。
【拓展】
①news 为不可数名词，意为＂新闻，消息＂，作主语时，谓语动词用单数形式。
The news is very important.这个消息很重要。
②paper 为不可数名词，意为＂纸；纸张＂，＂一张纸＂为＂a piece of paper＂；也可作可数名词，意为＂
试卷，卷子＂。
Can you give me a piece of paper?
你能给我一张纸吗?
Please hand in your papers.
请交上你们的试卷。
【辨析】read，look，see 与watch
read 意思是 ＂ ＂，在汉语中译为＂看＂，多指看
书、看报、看杂志等。
She is reading a letter.
她正 在看一封信。
look 意思是＂看＂，强调看的动作，是不及物动词，后面
若接宾语，则必须与介词 at 连用。
Look at the beautiful picture.
请看这幅美丽的画。
see 意思是＂看见＂，强调看的结果，而不是动作，所以
不能用于进行时态。
What can you see in the picture?
你在图画里面能看到什么？
watch 意思是＂观看，注视＂，多用于看电视、比赛、表演
等， 尤指怀着欣赏或学习的心情注视着别人的行为或
动作。
Let’s watch the basketball game.
让我们看球赛吧。

shop 不及物动词，shopping 是其现在分词。
