【用法详解】
一般过去时分为由 be 动词构成的一般过去时和由实义动词构成的一般过去时，因此其句式变化也不同。
1.由be 动词构成的一般过去时
1) 基本结构： 主语 + was / were + 其他
He was a student then. 他那时还是一名学生。
They were all volunteers from other cities. 他们都是来自于其他城市的志愿者。
2)否定句： 在 be 动词后加 not 即可。基本结构：主语 + was / were + not + 其他
He was not a student then. 他那时还不是一名学生。
They were not all volunteers from other cities. 他们都不是来自于其他城市的志愿者。
3）一般疑问句：把be 动词提到主语前面。基本结构：Was / Were + 主语 + 其他？
肯定回答：Yes, 主语+was / were.
否定回答：No, 主语+ wasn’t. / weren’t.
—Were you good at English? 你擅长英语吗？
—No, I wasn’t. 不，我不擅长。
2.由实义动词构成的一般过去时
1) 基本结构： 主语 + 动词过去式 + 其他
He got married last year. 他去年结婚了。
He did his homework carefully yesterday. 他昨天认真地做了家庭作业。
2）否定句：在主语后，动词前加助动词 didn’t， 同时谓语动词恢复原形。
基本结构：主语+ didn’t + 动词原形 + 其他
He didn’t get married last year. 他去年没结婚。
He didn’t do his homework carefully yesterday. 他昨天没有认真地做家庭作业。
3）一般疑问句：在句首加助动词 Did, 同时谓语动词恢复原形。基本结构：
肯定回答：Yes, 主语+ did.
否定回答：No, 主语+ didn’t.
—Did he get married last year?
— Yes, he did. / No, he didn’t.
【典例讲解】
1.His father ________in Beijing now. Last year he ________ in Dalian.
A.worked; working B.works; working C.is working; worked

句意：他的爸爸现在在北京工作。去年他在大连工作。考查时态。根据“now”可知第一个句子应该用现在
进行时；根据“last year”可知这里第二空应该用一般过去时。故选 C。
