One day, Tom's father was doing some work when his son came and asked, "Dad, can
l ask you a question? How much do you make an hour?"
His father got a bit upset and replied,“Why do you ask such a thing?" Tom said. "I just
want to know. Please tell me." His father then said that he made about $ 50 an hour.
"Oh," the little boy replied with his head down. Looking up, he said, "Dad, can I
please borrow $30?" The father got angry and complained, "If only the reason you
asked about my pay is that you can borrow some money to buy a useless toy, then you'd better
go back to your room. I work hard every day and I do not like this rude behavior."
The little boy quietly went to his room and closed the door. After about an hour or
so,the man calmed down. He went to the boy's room and opened the door. “Are you sleeping,
son?"he asked. “No, Dad. I'm awake." the boy replied. "I've been thinking -maybe I was too
hard on you earlier," his father said. Here's the $30 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up with a smile. Then, reaching under his pillow( 枕头), he
took out $ 20 that he had hidden away. The man became angry. The little boy slowly counted
out his money. then looked up at his father and said, "Dad. I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour
of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
