第04 讲 基数词和序数词
【定义】
数词是指表示数目多少或顺序先后的词。
数词的分类：分为基数词和序数词。
基数词表示数目的多少。序数词表示事物的先后顺序，往往与定冠词 the 连用。
【考点 01】基数词的写法或读法
表示数目多少的数词叫基数词。如 one, five, ten, thirty, sixty-five.
基数词可指代或修饰可数名词。
It’s five dollars.
They’re nine dollars.
牢记下表。

【说明】
（1）对于 20 以内的基本的数字，需要牢记。要注意其中的一些规律
例：13-19 的数字都是“teen”结尾等
（2）十位数与个位数之间要加连字符
例：23 → twenty-three
（3）百位数与个位数之间要加 and
例：201 → two hundred and one 642 → six hundred and forty-two

【详解】句意：—下周三是妈妈四十岁生日。我们该怎么办？——给她买四十朵花来表达我们的爱怎么样？
考查基数词和序数词。第一空是指生日，应用序数词；第二空是表示 40 朵花，应用基数词，故选 C。
【拓展】四位数或者四位数以上的基数词的拼写规律：
用逗号从右往左每三位加一个逗号，第一个逗号读作 thousand(千)，第二个逗号读作 million(百万)，第三个
逗号读作 billion(十亿)，hundred 后莫忘＂and＂。
3,610＝three thousand six hundred and ten；
68,343 sixty-eight thousand, three hundred and forty-three
[注意]
英语中没有“万”和“亿”这两个单位，只有“百万（million）”和“十亿（billion）”；
因此“一万”是用 10 个千，也就是“ten thousand”来表示的，
“一亿”是用“one hundred million”来表示的

考查数词的用法。thousand 千；million 百万。表示具体数量时，用“数词+thousand/million”；表示概数时，
用“thousands/millions of”。空前有具体数词，可排除 BD 选项；再根据“in our school watched it.”和常识可
知，在学校应是大约两千学生观看。故选 A。
【考点 02】序数词
表示顺序先后的数词叫序数词，如 first, sixth, tenth, twenty-first 等。
